I just got done reading a ton of great articles on Bass First. Whoever is doing the writing there is kicking arse big time. I believe it is Dave Landahl, but not certain he is doing all of it.

These articles do not focus so much on the techniques and tackle of the BASS and FLW worlds, but the anglers that make up those tours. Candid type interviews. Some about silly insights to their personal lives, some about business. They really let you see that these guys are people too.

My question is why not for the walleye guys? Is the walleye game truly that insignificant now that on Walleye First's main page I can click on more bass stories than walleye. C'mon man. Show the eyes some love too.

A few years back Dave Landahl was working on a walleye book. He requested a few written snippets from me about some of Saginaw Bays better river systems and techniques for walleyes, but the project never got off the ground I guess. Walleye fishing (like Bass fishing in the Southern States) is entrenched in the fiber of our culture anywhere North of the Mason/Dixon line. But in most cases, Northerners treat Bass and the competition for them like the 4 letter word that it is. Yet the laid back, almost Southern charm and charisma of most of these Southern drawled Cajuns, keep Bass fishing as important as Nascar seems to be to them. So is it the marketing, the sponsorships dedication, the less exciting and perceived boring technique of trolling, or the Good Ole' Boy status of Bass fishermen that keep walleye fishing from higher stakes and recognitions. Nobody seems to really know.

Johnnie,
Dave Landahl and Joel Shangle, both excellent writers, will be writing for WalleyeFIRST beginning as soon as our new websites hit the web after the first of the year. Look for exactly that type of additional coverage very soon!

Focus on and promote the anglers! What a novel idea!
