This past weekend is one not to be forgotten!! Jack Dunn asked if I'd be his partner for the Red Doors 13th annual walleye tourney on Mille Lacs. We pre fished with some luck but not what we were hoping for. Saturday we worked the rocks with bobbers from 6 to 8 feet of water and pulled in 6 slots for a weight of 11.02 pounds that was good enough for 4th on day one. To bad it wasn't the ESPN outdoor games I caught a 22" smallie!! The leader was 16.something pounds after day one. We decided with the storm that moved in and the mayfly hatch that we would go back to the same areas and pull slots with corks. It seems that the flys are more previlent on the mud so we knew that the rock fish were eating normal food!! It was tough throwing back 15 inchers hoping to get our 8th fish to be bigger. We moved out to some 17 foot gravel once the sun came out and picked up our 8th fish on a spinner. We lolly gaged back in to weigh in an hour early. Our 8 had a weight of 14.32 pounds on day 2 and that gave us enough for a 25.34 pound win!! Second place went to Jeff, another one of McQuaids awesome guides!!! He had 21.something pounds.

A side note for Bill Ortiz, Jack said he'll give you some bobber lessons if you want!! HAHA!!

The weather went from ideal conditions to sunny and calm, to an over night storm to ideal to sunny and calm. It tended to work for the best though!! The plaques are really sharp!! Hopefully Jack and I can team up for a few more!!

Chris, Jack just told me about the bruising you took trying to rehook the bowmount. Hope your alright and with an attitude like that, no wonder you guys won.

Again, great job on the win!

Let me tell ya it didn't feel so good when I got out of my truck after the 2 1/2 hr ride home, it didn't hurt when we were slammin slots!! I was ready to take one for the team, you know we couldn't afford to have anyone else fishing by us!!
