Okay I couldn't resist. I've been taking some decent fish on the river lately on a product by salmo called a chubby darter. If your not familiar with them they can be cast out and hopped back to the boat or simply dropped over the side and jigged. The thing I like about this bait is it wobbles on the up & down-strokes. You can be subtle with your jigging or give it a real rip, both motions have worked for me. The fish have been spanking the heck out of it.

So, anyone else use this lure? Nav

Jon, I've not tried the Chubby Darters yet, but was intrigued by adds I have seen for them. Your report has made up my mind for me, I gotta have some!

Rooster...there are times I will switch from jigging spoons like a buck-shot rattle spoon to the darter and then to plastics, while working each spot. It makes it easier (and quicker) if I have someone in the boat that is accustomed to using presentations such as these. Oh yeah, the trebles on the jigging spoons and darters will snag everything so don't let them drag. Nav

Jon,

Any preference for size, color, pattern etc? Post a pic if you can or point me to a url perhaps where I can see what you are using.

I'm using the 2" in hot perch and cabelas has the cheapest price at $5.99, unless you find them at a local bait shop that has close-out prices. Nav

Hougie, there is an add for them in the current Walleye Insider magazine. The link there is www.salmofishing.com . They have glow colors, which I think would be another plus for our murky river waters. They are pretty pricey though.
