Member Posts: 152 Location: Appleton WI | My dad is looking at getting a handheld gps but doesn't want to spend more than $300 on it. Which GPS would you recommend for this price range? We have been looking at Lowrance and Garmin but we were wondering what some people that have had them or used them thought. Please give me some suggestions.

Member Posts: 59 Location: Appleton, WI | I myself have the Garmin12 and it is an excellent unit for about $125. My friends that I hunt with have the Garmin Rhino and they all like that unit because you can hook up headphones and a mic so they talk back and forth on it. A little more pricey and now they came out with a better Rhino. The better one, you don't have to be moving for it to give your direction of travel. I think the Garmins are an excellent choice and easy to use. In my opinion.

No doubt the Lowrance I-finder in the Hunt model is my choice hands down, The flexibility to then add additional map technology like the Navionics Classic, Gold or Premier chips along with the Topo makes it the most versatile unit just under $300 Good Luck Tyee

Member Posts: 299 Location: Wind lake, Wi | The garmin rhino 120 is my GPS of choice. It also acts as a two-way radio and if another guy in your group has a rhino it will show his cordinates. You can also download fishing hot spots cd into your system or a variety of other discs can be downloaded. The fishing hot spots map shows contours and depth along with general tips for the lake you are fishing on. The garmin rhino is very user friendly and as I found out two weeks ago very accurate, within 15-20 feet. Plus has many other features on the unit. Downloading different lakes is fairly easy if your computer orientated. You won't be dissapointed!! I am in no way shape or form affiliated with garmin, just am happy with the easy to use unit.
