Have any of you used the Okuma spinning reels and their baitcasting reels? Not their counter reels for trolling, but the baitcasters that you can either cast with or use for rigging.

I saw both types at a local store and they felt smooth, but I've fallen prey to that before only to have other makers reels bust.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Okuma spinning reels are very smooth and have been dependable from my experience. Okuma is a sponsor of our tournaments and we have given many of them away at our tournaments and have never had a complaint. The comments coming back from the anglers is that they are very smooth and have a good drag system.

The spinning reels are excellent and have a great drag. The only drawback is the weight. The are a bit heavier than most. I do not have any of the baitcasters but the convectors have an excellent drag as well.

I have a bunch of the baitcasters and love 'em. I beat them to death using baits to 6 ounces for Muskies, and no problems.

Reel Shopper; The Nytrix baitcaster is lighter weight, smooth baitcaster, perhaps best for bass applications. The Indurion is a heavier, more solid feel, extremely smooth reel for bass, pike, and muskie. I pull 3-ways with Indurions. The VS is new this year, and I have only had the prototype. Delivery should be soon, to the retailer. For spinning, look at the Epixors and Metaloids, which is all I use in my boat. Good Luck Mike
