Location: Rhinelander | Day One leader Ranger/Evinrude Pro Tommy Skarlis said he was excited to be headed out fishing today. " I should be able to put some fish in the boat. It was nice yesterday when the first three bites were a 19, a 19 1/2, and one over 20!" PWT Executive Director Jim Kalkofen said there were about a dozen boats working that area, a 2 to 21/2 mile long expanse of bluffs near the bridge south of the launch. He said the boats "Came in, fished, and left" the area throughout the day. The forecast for today is calling for sunny skies and moderate wind, with temps in the 100 to 105 degree range. A storm rolled through with wild winds and a half inch of rain last night, but most anglers felt that would have no real effect on the bite they are working. Watch for the WalleyeFIRST Day Two Live Leaderboard to begin about 3 PM. Location: Rhinelander | " A ten pound fish is like an additional day fishing! " Scott Fairbairn said onstage today about Scott Ziegler's 10.3 Pound hog today. Scott's Co Angler actually boated the big fish that added to his 10# plus weight for his other 4 fish vaulted him into a near 4# lead. Mark Courts had a 8# plus fish which pushed his 5 fish limit over 16# for the day. The bite was tougher for some of the Pros today reportedly because of the water getting muddy in some of the key areas. Tomorrow the weather promises to be even warmer, but perhaps with a bit more wind. Either way, 105 degrees is still pretty warm. Most of the Pros I talked to were very optimistic about tomorrow. Gary Parsons ssaid" I LOVE this heat. I freeze amost all year, so BRING it ON!" No worries there. It was good to see Bob Probst Sr. again!
