Member Posts: 625 Location: LaCrosse, WI | As I'm gearing up for the upcomming Ice guiding season I find myself stocking up on lures again. I have my favorites, but wondered what everybody else likes. My favorites are as follows. Jiggin Rapala size 5-7 BuckShot Rattle Spoon (some modified as dropper rigs) Heddon Sonars Nils Masters GoDevil jigging spoons The good old hook & sinker combo I've never had great success with the Chubby Darters. What are your favorites?

Member Posts: 744 | If you can find them, try some Vib-E lures (similar to the Sonars). I was experimenting with some blade baits this past year, and the Vib-E lures were the fastest reacting blades I tried. What I mean by that is that they started "vibrating" sooner on the upstroke, and with less effort then Sonars, Cicadas or Zips. I have never tried them on the ice, but I will be this year. You can lift them slower and with shorter strokes and get the same action, which I think is better on the ice. Dave S Edited by thumper 10/2/2007 7:59 AM

Member Posts: 1656 | Gem n eyes with a shiner head. Put more eyes on the ice for me last year than any other jigging bait. Tip-ups at night lead the race. Swedish pimple is another must have. IMHO.

Member Posts: 591 Location: in the boat off the east shore somewhere | just give me the old sweedish pimple and half a shiner and drill me a hole over some fish... keepin it oldschool,, over some fish means more than what you put down.. although thumper might have something going up there... thanks for the tip,,,

Member Posts: 625 Location: LaCrosse, WI | Thanks for the replies. I do use Swedish Pimples and even some of the Vibe E's. We fish with blade baits a lot on the Mississippi and the Heddons and the BFISHN (heddon bodies) seem to out produce the Vibe E's and the Zonars. I won a box of Vibe E's at the GNWC championship a few years ago. I'll have to throw them in with the ice gear. As for the Gem-n-Eyes I hadn't really seen any of the JB tackle stuff. They have some interesting stuff in their line. I'm interested in the Gem-N-Eye and the Rattling Varmit (this could be another option like the Buckshot spoon). Lindy has a pretty cool new spoon comming out this year to. I think it's called the rattl'n flyer. I have two big group trips booked so I need to make sure I have lots of options for everyone to try.
