Hey guys,
I was just wondering if anyone run one of these and if you have rod holders mounted flush, or if you have them mounted on rails. Want to go with as few "holes" as possible in the new glass!
Thanks
Ben

Go with the rails! Also, don't get the rails that come standard with the 177, they are short and can only comfortably fit 2 holders, have your dealer order the ones for the 202 or 215, I think they are around 42" or so? That is what I put on mine this spring and I couldn't be happier. You might also want to put some rails up in the front too. I didn't yet, but was thinking of adding 2 holders up there, and would rather put them on the rails than drill into the fiberglass up on the bow. Plus the rails look nice and give you something else to grab at the dock in the front, etc.

Good luck with the 177, if you're like me, you are gonna love the ride and the fishability out of it.

I said I would post a pic of my buddy's rod holder set up in his 177. Please ignre the fact that the rod holders are Scotty's, and consider Folbe's, especially if you do any muskie trolling.

Shep and others,
Thanks a million! Yes I will be getting the Folbes as I do split time 50/50 with walleyes and muskies.

Another idea is to use the fishing systems from traxstech.com. I have their products installed on my Triton 215X. Since you are limited in the space in your 177, it is nice to get the butt of the rod out of the boat. I believe the traxstech adaptor plate would adapt to the Folbe rod holder (I know it does for the Scotty/Cabelas).
