Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | You pay the seller for the boat and include NO TAX MONEY. When you get here you register the boat with the dnr as a original registration and pay the sales tax per the county you live in. Dont pay another state as they get to keep that money. Might as well bring it home if you have to pay it. Edited by stacker 5/18/2010 12:21 PM

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | With the out of state re-registration a clean bill of sale will be needed as well as all titles and registration that is isued in the state of origin. They cover this quite well.

Because of family in Florida, and plans to spend quite a bit of time down there, I have been really looking into buying a boat to use while there. It is a minefield. Salt water and 365 days a year of warm weather can age a boat rapidly, and cause a whole host of unseen problems, electrical and engine being two biggies. Not saying there aren't some deals to be had, but there are lots of nightmares too. I looked at some last month, and decided I would need way more time and connections before I would even consider a purchase. Survey and complete engine analysis would be the first thing I would ask for. Going down there and bringing one back adds quite a bit of $$$ to the deal too. Not trying to be a bummer here, but I've been beating my head on this situaltion for a year now.
