| I have the Lowrance HDS units with basemap (not insight). If I purchase the Lakemaster Insight chip, will it show the contours as shaded and in 3D? Or is that just with the units that have Insight? Is it a big improvement over a Lakemaster Pro chip? Help please. Thanks. |

| You don't need the Insight base map, just a Lowrance unit with the capability of 3D/Shaded Relief. Then with the LakeMaster/Insight map card, lake bottom can display in 2D, 3D with contour lines, or 3D without contour lines, your choice. |

| Thanks Steve. Is the Insight chip worth it in your opinion? I have the Lakemaster Pro chip and it's difficult to see the contour lines. I have the HDS 10 and 7. |

| Lonny,
First, you may have a pre-2009 map card if you have problems seeing contour lines. Beginning in 2009 LM's maps changed to a two-tone scheme of water background colors, and used dark contour lines all the way to shore making the map much more readable. Second, especially on heavily 'structured' lake bottoms, LakeMaster Insight 3D (shaded relief) with contour lines shut off is a dramatic image of the lake. Most big box stores will demonstrate this for you. You should see it before making the decision. It is important that the 3D image be based upon high definition (surveyed for accuracy) data. |

| My LM Pro chip is several years old. I will try to get a demonstration at one of the sporting goods stores. Thanks for the help. |

Location: Laona, Wisconsin | Try switching to Night View when using your Lakemaster chips. That is what I do and I leave it that way all of the time. |

| What chip will I want in my HDS units for Pools 9 and 10 on the Mississippi River? |
