	Gentlemen, Just wanted to remind you to go to the DNR hearing in your county (see attached file for location) this coming Monday (April 11th) at 7pm to vote for the 3rd duck zone (Lake Mich, Mississippi). 3 Voting Options: a) Everything stays as-is. b) North-South Border Moves north approx 60 miles, add 3rd zone (Lake Mich, Mississippi) c) North-South Border Remains as-is, add 3rd zone (Lake Mich, Mississippi) My vote will be (c) - keeping the border where it is at, but adding the 3rd duck zone. I hear it is going to be tough to get this passed, so every vote is going to count.....bring friends/wives Thanks-

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin	This has been a very heated discussion on the waterfowl boards. I am sure I know who posted this but will allow them to remain behind the curtain. As all duck hunters have asked, "What dates are they using and will you getting the open water lake michigan hunting affect my season at all?" No one knows. They will give to the few barkers for a lake michigan season and take from the masses. Please, original poster, tell how this affects the masses. Thanks

Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI	I am for adding the third season as it pertains to Lake Michigan. The best hunting on the lake is right as the season ends. Many of the big lake divers do not migrate down until the upper lake water starts to freeze. Lengthening the season for Lake Michigan would give us great hunting until the end of the year. Talk to those who hunt Lake MI and they'll tell you the same thing. I cannot speak for the river and adding a third season there.

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin	The problem that lies is there are only so many days that a state can have hunting opportunities. By extending the season on the river and lake michigan, you have to take days away from EVERYWHERE else in the state. The river tends to freeze up by the end of november so there wont be much extended opportunities there, however lake michigan can be hunted all year. The problem with lake michigan is there are only 100 guys who do it out of the 40,000 licensed hunters in the state of wisconsin. Its very dangerous out there in december and if a guy wants to do it, he should be in a guides service. Thats limiting the opportunity. I will be voicing my disapproval of such a season at the meeting. I would however vote for a 3 zone in this state. There are guys who hunt fields in southern wisconsin that get over run with mallards and pintails and geese in december. Why not let them have that season, there are many more of them that would take advantage of an extension than lake michigan hunters. Edited by stacker 4/9/2011 12:21 PM
