Location: vancouver wa. home of next world record bigeye | hi i have the same problem. i did this with anouther unit years ago solution, build a shield, rectanglular like the face of the unit, comes out about 8 to 12 inches, cardboard to start with/Narows down creating a nearly sun light free invironment.. second choice I am having a short canvas top made across windsheid about 18 to 24 inches back, moinno top so to speak, that should keep some of the sun out. P--- Poor planning and not all to gether accurate truthfull advertising from lowrance the company that makes you re- string new transducers when ever you change units. buy all new cords etc. you know the one. Why cant they do what the outboard mfg did. one hole fits all. I will think long and hard. mostly long before I buy lowrance again. map creat 5 vs 6 vs 6.2 when will it end. It is all about my money, my money going to lowrance. I have a few buddies that have gone to garmin and I have looked at and fished the units, very nice, great price esp in the long run. Lowrance used to have a fisherman freindly cust serv dept.. Not so much anymore. Did get some usefull help the other day but the hold time was pretty long. gee all that for one question. Build a box type sheild to keep the light off the screen and put your face up t it. Good fishing.. BB Vancouver WA. Columbia river Big Eye Man.. 15.9 so far.. |

Location: Monona, WI | Try one of the cover visors from this company:
http://www.bmprodfish.com/
They fold down and double as a hard screen cover to protect from damage when not in use. Although not listed on their website, they do make cover visors for the larger Lowrance units. Give them a call or email them for prices. I have used these on my last set of units and they worked great to shield the screen from the sun. With one of these and a RAM mount, you can always get the screen into a position where it is easily read. |

| Good thing Cabelas has a 60 day money back gaurantee. After talking to Lowrance this morning, there are some sun light issues with the X19 unit, but if I would send it back they could put a enhanced (updated) screen in it for a mesely $99 bucks. Nice try, the unit is only 5 days old. All the new screens are going to customers for $99 theyare not puting them in to new units that are being sold thru stores or mail order for another 4 or 5 months. BUYER BE WARE///////// |

Location: Lake Crystal, Minnesota | I had trouble with my X-85 Lowrance. They said send it in for only 99.00 they will fix it. What a deal-buy a unit thewn pay to get it fixed. I think I will buy another brand and save the 99.00. Where did their quality control go. |

| When did you buy your x-19? I sent mine in this mid summer for $100.00, they actual sent back new head, made a lot of difference in viewing in the sunlight.
