Member Posts: 1195 Location: Orland Park, IL | I am looking to build a black light box and not sure how to go about it. The purpose is to charge my glow cranks for an extended period of time. I thinking something along the size of a cigar box. Now I am lookin for an electrical hookup and bulbs. Any suggestions?

| Komo, I built one of these for our charter boat I used a small wooden box, used rubber cement inside to line the box with tin-foil to deflect the light that would otherwise be waisted, then I screwed a small cigarette lighter powered black light tube to the bottom of the box (available at Sportsmans Warehouse) and hung small hooks on the lid of the box to hang spoons and what not on. It works great, we hang the baits on it as we motor out to the spot, no matter how rough it is the baits stay on the hooks and inside the box... then when we get there they are charged, you open the lid pick what baits you want and go angling. | |||

| by hanging the baits on the lid centered in the box with the tin foil deflecting light then the baits get charged pretty evenly from all sides, even the lid area. It also makes them easier to get out because when you open the lid they lay nicely on it. | |||

| A high gloss white will actually reflect more light than foil. Strange but true. Other than that it sounds like a real good design. | |||

Member Posts: 794 Location: Elgin, Illinois | Hey Komo... call me... I am also building a prototype... Been talkibng to Dennis and others about what "features" this should have... Any thoughts on which light source to use... Bass Pro has one for $25.00 that looks way more powerful than we need for this application. My partner is designing a circuit board with a 2-3 minute timer...
