Where is the best place to locate a radio and speakers in a 1890 DS? (Since the addtion of the wedges in the hull last year, this is a great family boat too)

Check out the third image on this thread. KHedquist had a radio and speakers mounted in his 1890, I'm sure he'll chime in.

Yep you can do that on either console, if I where to do it again I would put it on the passenger console same place, easier to see from the drivers seat, the speakers could be mounted in the access lids/holes under the consoles that way you dont have to drill BIG holes in your boat

I'm adding a stereo to my 1890 this week. I'm going to mount it on a shelf under the console. Shelf will be like what Kirt put in his. I thought bout mounting it like I did the VHF on mine, but the case for the radio is much bigger than the VHF, and I'm not sure if the same small Ram mount can hold it. I like the shelf idea. The speakers will go in the access holes. I'll post some pics when I get it done.

Thanks for the feedback. If it were mounted on the passenger side, would the back of the radio take up some valuable space in the glove box or could it be mounted below that area? Are you guys just making those shelves yourselves? Thanks again for any info.

I put mine on a shelf under the steering wheel. It's a 1700, but basically the same idea would work in a 1890.

good info from everybody... like the speakers idea for the big round hatch things... how about this: if you have HDS or hummingbird just add sat radio module. A plus is less mounting involved and weather too...
That is my plan next year for the HDS along with SI...
