Hey All, I have two outboard motors for sale. I have just been contacted by someone acting as an agent for someone out of the country. They have agreed on my price but wants to send me $10,000 more than I have asked for. I am to cash the certified check for the amount of $25,000 and send $10,000 of that to a shipper via a money order. I seem to have heard or read about something like this. Anyone have any ideas or might there be someone to contact. Thanks for your thoughts in advance, Bo

Sounds awful weird to me, Bo. I would not release anything, no motors or papers, until the check clears and the money is in your account. Almost sounds like a Laundering operation.

Bo.

If it looks like a Duck, walks like a Duck, sounds like a Duck, it's a DUCK. Knowbody in this world is that desperate or generous to strangers.

Scam, scam , do not even respond to it.

You will get a phony bank draft.
Your bank will credit to your account and let you draw against it.
Because you are in good standing.
Then the note will not process , and will turn out to be a fake.
Now the fun part you will now owe the bank the 10 g's they fronted you.

This in many forms has been going around the internet for this last year.
The guy at the other end get 10 g's U.S. and can not be found.

I had the exact same thing happen to me as I am trying to sell my boat. I wrote back and told him I needed more money and if he gave me another 10 g's I would throw in an autographed picture. Funny, I still have not heard back from him.

I've been trying to sell a 15hp and I'd get a lot of strange emails. If they didn't say where they were from I'd reply and ask, as soon as they said they were from outside the US or Cananda, I'd tell them to wire me the money or send cash. Funny thing was I'd never hear from them again.

I got so tired of all the fake emails. The fakes would come as a form letter stating the sender was interested in my car. I would then explain I wasn't interested in their scam of bad international checks and how I'd get stuck with the liability of the bad check. I'd end by telling them to get a real job.

Hey by the way I'm hearing good things about your circuit. I may be interested next year.
