Member Posts: 580 Location: Green Bay, WI | The closest launch is Stoney Point Launch north of Menominee on Highway 35. I have never used it. I went to look at it one day and a local was there. I asked him about it, he said its pretty shallow for about 1/4 to 1/2 out. If you have wind blowing in and you're up and down the swells you could bottom out. The other factor to consider is it is still about a 10 mile ride in the open waters of the bay. My .02, go up the Door county side and use the Peninsula State park launch. All the islands up there provide a little more protection if the weather turns ugly, like it can this time of year.

If you want to launch from the West use the Marinette launches but you will have a 15 mile run to the North end of Chambers. The Park launch is great or you have public launches in the towns on the west side of the door, Fish Creek being the closest. Parking at the town launches can be a bit of a hassle on weekends.

Member Posts: 377 Location: Neenah Wi | Fish creek would be the closest and the channel getting out is marked so it should be no problem getting out.If the bouys are not in you will need some kind of gps mapping to get the channel marked. The ride out is not nearly as far as going off the other side. There is parking for about a dozen rigs if I remember correctly.

Hey Riser, How is that route marked from Fish Creek to Chambers? I am fairly new to boating on big waters and would like to travel this route with the wife and kids but want to be safe. Thanks for your help.

Member Posts: 377 Location: Neenah Wi | The chanel is marked with bouys until you get to deeper water. If you have a gps and a map loaded. It will show the bouys on it also.If you go out to Chambers Is.watch out it gets shallow in some spots around the Island. You really should have a gps with mapping if you go near there.

Member Posts: 3899 | If your going to launch from Fish Creek anyway, I would suggest launching from the Pennisula State Park which is just up the road from Fish Creek. Better launch, and you won't have to walk a mile from the parking. I also agree that a mapping GPS would be a big help. Not that you shouldn't have a hard copy map.
