Do you need a Charter/captain license to guide on the winnebago system or other inland waters?? Or do you just need a guide license??? Thanks to anyone that could help.

Member Posts: 1656 | You can get a Limited Capt. License which will let you guide on federal inland water and rivers, such as Winnebago. the Cost and time is less than the full blown "six pack".

Good question Thumper. I had to think on that one and will take a stab at it. I think a U.S.C.G. captain's license is required when you run a "boat for hire". Since you don't run a boat on ice it may mean no captain's license is needed. I would think a Wis. Guide license is still required though......jim

On the ice... No, you would not need the US Coast Guard License until your truck fell through with customers in the bed...LOL Seriously, that is probably a good "technical" question that should be run past the Coast Guard for a definitive answer.... Stranger interpretations have happened in the past...

Member Posts: 1406 | USCG Not needed to guide on Winnebago ice fishing. But then again I wouldn't choose a guide on the system that didn't have one. Good Luck Tyee

Good Input guys! So I am assuming that is correct, I would need a limited capt. license and a wisconsin guide license to do some guiding on the winnebago system. Thanks
