Location: Darboy USA | As a fan and bass angler I think the idea is great. However, if I was one of these pros I'd think it would get pretty darn annoying getting peppered with questions all day long from the back of the boat. I realize what BASS is trying to do and I think the intent is good, but we all have been in stressful tournament situations and if you draw the one blow hard who just keeps asking question after question sooner or later you'd think one of the pros would blow his top? |

Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Well, I dont know if i would go as far as calling them a blow hard. He was told that he could ask as many questions as he likes when he signed up. There are always ways to slow a question guy down. Plus, how many could he ask in 8 or 10 hours. I would rather pay money to do just that in a tourny where NOTHING is expected of me. Thats 2 days of school on the water. Not just any water, but water you want to fish. |

| I remember at almost every pre-tournament meeting (FLW & PWT) hearing that the Pro's are not here to be your fishing guide for the day. Contrary to KVD's interview, where the Marshall is allowed to ask lots of questions regarding location, tactics, presentation intent, etc.; the Pro's appear to clam-up and not offer this type of information. I would say that at least 50% of the Pro's that I've been paired with request that you keep the questions to a minimal amount. After all it would be quite distracting to muti-task by concentrating on your day's game plan while trying to educate and answer questions. Rarely would the Pro offer information willingly without questions being asked by the Co. Also, the Pro typically does not even offer up their daily game plan to the Co., and are somewhat evassive in their reply when asked (prior to takeoff). A co.'s questions are more likely to be answered after boat-check (and prior to weigh-in). My question is, "Will AIM ask their Pro's to be more like what KVD has described for the Elite Series, (i.e., will they be more nurturing to the unitiated Co's and answer all of their questions)?" Most Pro's I've been paired with seem to be the opposite of social butterflies. I believe this social gap needs to be filled here in order for the Co to maximize his/her experience; and for AIM's format to be successful. I hate to generalize and catagorize all Pro's, but I would say that this applies to about 50% of those that I've fished with. Personnally, I prefer to be a student of the game (wanting to know as much as I can about strategy and the ever changing dynamics of this strategy). The question is, "Will AIM Pro's be willing to be teachers of the game?" |

| i would think this new format would be a better playground for the pros to share their knowledge. IMHO

Location: Orland Park, IL | I dont know co. I have spent some time "peppering" the pros with questions, on both league and tour side. Now, I dont mean run down a laundry list, but more of the whys vs the hows. I figure at the Co level, you got the hows down path. So, you can troll, jig, pitch, crank, slip, etc. with some working knowledge. Everyone, well almost everyone, was more than happy to share. Keep in mind, pros love to talk fishing. Keep em talking, then slide in a question.
The more I hear about AIM the more I am willing to give it shot, at least once. Maybe saginaw, never fished it. Wondering what the wisconsin event will be......Bago??? |

Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Remember that the guys fishing the event from the pro side, did not sign on to be a teacher, or maybe they will with AIM but they did not on the FLW or PWT. I don't think, in the walleye world, that as a amature you ever signed on as a student. You sign on as a partner for a day.
BUT.... on the AIM side, that would be an interesting way to do the events. |

| wow, CO. That is about opposite from what I have experienced as a coangler. I never once heard anything about the pro's not being a guide statement. In fact, Sonny almost always works from a script, and mentions how much the co's can learn from the day on the water with the pro's. Nearly every pro I got paired with, were more than willing to answer any questions I came up with. Now, I didn't get a lot of great or top rated pro's to fish with. When I did, I asked lot's of technical type questions. Never once had a guy say he wouldn't give me an answer to that. I did have some ask me to keep things quiet, though. When I didn't get one of the top guys, which was most often, I still asked questions, but more from a curious , why do you do THATt, point of view.
I have not decided if I agree with the coangler part of this AIM circuit. At least the noncompeting part.
