Member Posts: 794 Location: Elgin, Illinois | Yeah Bob Lampman caught 2 fish and weighed 12#+ Those were two nice fish... But, look at the "cast" and then think about only 37 fishermen have weighed at least one fish over the two days... That means 68 haven't weighed a fish... Just slightly better than a third have weighed a fish... What a tough bite... So, for anybody to put up anything is a real performance.... It's why it's called "fishin'" not "catchin'"

Member Posts: 39 Location: NE/IL | I was down there prefishing from Wed - Sat of last week with a couple of tourney friends, and my dad, my parents live on the lake. To say it's been a tough bite is an understatement. For three days we caught bass, crappie, and gills but no eyes. There was a local tournament on Sat...24 boats and there were 23 second place finishers. The angler that won the tourney had 1 fish for 1.8#s. The only eye I saw caught was by a local bass fisherman in a spot my dad fishes....and it was a beauty. This will prove to be a battle of patience. There are a great number of fish there but they are either in spawn or just post and the water was only 52 degrees when I left on Sunday. The cold front wont help but each day the fish get further from the spawn the bite should improve. It's a beautiful lake and the fishing is generally better than indicated by the results thus far..... mother nature is just a little behind this year. Edited by eyeman_1 4/7/2005 5:57 PM
