Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | My Motorguide PTSv bowmount's position indicator is pointing in the opposite direction that the motor is pulling the boat. Does anyone know the fix for this? Hope it's simple, because I sure am!!!

Member Posts: 1656 | Jerry I had a similar thing happen to a MInnekota.....I'm not sure if the fix is as simple but may be worth a look. I took the cap or cover off the top of the trolling motor. I was able to lift the direction indicator and change the position to the correct direction and replace the cover. Really that's it, pretty simple. Maybe the Motorguide is just as simple? Good Luck

Member Posts: 2393 Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | Jerry, It is a quick fix but not done the way it was previously suggested. On the bottom of your foot peddle you will see two adjustment wheels. One is for the adjusting the arrow and the other is for adjusting the motor direction when stowing. hope this helps.

| I am about to make the $$ plunge for the Digital PTSv for WI Walleye fishing. I will be buying from a local dealer so I can get service if needed. | |||

Member Posts: 56 | Jerry- if you can't get the motor to center or stow as Dennis has suggested by using the adjustments on your foot pedal, then your steering gear has jumped up out of position. Unplug the motor and remove the top cover of the head (torx screws). Align the two gears together using the "timing" marks on them. Put a drop of 5 min epoxy on top of the steering gear when you get it into the correct position. Problem solved. Jim Carroll NPAA #333

Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | Not quite sure why this thread popped up again but I am not having problems with a PTSv at this time. This thread started last summer when I had problems and they were easily fixed. On another note I do have one for sale if anyone is interested.
