I have been searching for a rough water boat and the Tuffy 2060 looks pretty nice (although I can't seem to find a good photo of one with a walkthrough windshield other than the brochure and isn't the greatest) but the 1890 is awesome looking too? What are your opinions Tuffy owners? Does anyone have some photos of their 2060's? I live in MI and there are no dealers to see one? | |||

Member Posts: 3899 | I have a new 1890, and it is one of the best 19' boats I've been in for rough water. That said, I spent a weekend in a new 2060 on Green Bay 2 weeks ago, and it is definately a better ride in the real rough stuff, 3 footers and over. The boat we were in was a full windshield with a Merc 250 Racing Optimax on it. If you are going to be around Green Bay at all this summer, I would be glad to arrange a test ride in my 1890. I can also arrange to have a 2060 available. Let me know if this is an option for you, and we'll set it up. Edited by Shep 5/25/2007 11:34 AM | ||

It was cool seeing the floor entire floor plan of Zach's boat one minute and then nothing but bow and sky the next. Dean, the 2060 is a pretty dry boat with or without the walkthrough windshield. However, on them cold mornings, the walkthrough would be nice. | ||

Thanks for the offer Shep. I used to go there every Summer but the in-laws moved. I may get up to LBDN this Summer. If I do I will throw a Post on this site(I see you are on it quite often) and I will shoot down there. How does the 2060 look w/ the full winshield? Does it have the set back steering like the 1890? | |||

hopefully Gordy will weigh in on this. we talked about this exact issue while at the Madison show this year, and he had some thoughts based on his tournament experiences in rough water. he basically said the same thing Shep did: the 1890 runs the rough stuff great and maintains speed, but the 2060 does it with a somewhat better ride. this makes sense for two reasons: the extra length means "bridging" the troughs slightly better, and the narrower beam means cutting the waves slightly better. sounds to me like a case of "great" and "greater"... | |||

Member Posts: 273 | I had the chance to finally put my 2060 in some rough stuff on Sunday on Winnebago. Very pleased with the performance. I have a lot of hours in a 1760 in the rough stuff, but not a 2060. I knew it was gonna handle it well, but wow, better than I expected. Did a nice job even when I had to quarter the waves. The added length definitely made difference. It did as lambeau said, bridged the troughs and cut the waves. I'm pretty happy right now with my decision to step up to the 2060. | ||

Member Posts: 12 | I am very happy with my 2060 in rough water. We see alot of 4 footers on Lake Pepin and gets up and runs over the top of them. Granted, when going with the wind, you'll fall in the trough now and then, but all in all a good smooth, dry ride. I used to have a 18' Renegade that was pretty good, but the 2060 is ten times better. | ||

Location: Rhinelander | I've run them both. The 2060 is a bit better because of the obvious difference in length and a narrower point of entry. Both are great big water boats. | ||
