| Congrats Paul! It sure is a liberating experience opening up all those spaces in your tackle boxes:) Been there and I will admit I cried a little but I got over it. I did end up keeping just a few only because they had belonged to Jerry. BTW, I am starting Crankbaits Anynonomous (CA) if anyone is interested. | |||

Member Posts: 617 Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin | Hello, my name is Brad and I am a crankbait-aholic. Its been two months since I bought my last crankbait. I started buying crank baits when I was 9 years old. My first was a #7 floating Rapala, blue and white. I had seen other people buying crank baits and I thought it looked innocent enough. I thought I would just buy one and see if I liked it. Before I knew what was happening, I had boxes and boxes of crankbaits. I tried to come clean, but everytime I stopped at a site like this and somebody would say "Renosky" or "Wally-Diver", I simply could not control myself and I would have to buy a few of the new colors or styles that came out. But after the initial rush, I always felt hollow and empty after a buying binge. Many times the new crankbaits that I would buy would never see the water. Worse still, I would lie to my friends and family about my crankbaits, often telling the lie that I could quit whenever I wanted to and then deny that I had a problem at all. I would like to apoligize to my friends and family for my behavior. Some of you have stuck with me through the banjo minnow and Rapala rattlin' rap. It was your love and support that allowed me to avoid the spoon harness frenzy last season and I know now that I will be able to withstand the temptation of whatever product presented here, regardless of the price, amount of glitter, or the degree to which it is shameless targetted at me, the crankbait-aholic, in this coming season. And I would also like to thank Rich S for starting this program. If it weren't for you, I'd probably be at the baitshop right now trying to sell a kidney to raise enough money for a few more Winning Streaks. Thanks Bud. You saved another one.

| And that my friend is what CA is all about. I still remember the feeling I would have every time I entered the crank bait isle. When the addiction first started is was a feeling of excitement and curiosity. The pure rush of picking out the right one and then taking it out of the box. I still remember removing all my clothes and taking my newest addition into the bath with me. We would spend hours in there until we were one with each other. Later I would dry it off and remove the hooks. I would hold it in my hand as I slept dreaming of the 10lb'er I would be catching with it but then........what if my line broke......what if it got damaged in the fight????? Too risky for this guy. Back in the box where it will be safe. As the addiction grew, my feelings of excitement changed. Excitement to nervousness, then envy, jealousy, I began to lust after them, I NEEDED MORE....I HAD TO HAVE THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thoughts of hatred and murder starting popping into my head. I could not take any more. New ones kept appearing every season, it never ended. Rumors that Dave Storm was going to start making babies.....something had to give!! There was an intervention. You were there, and you and even you. My mind was torn between fantasy and reality. Finally, after much medication and shock therapy it was over. Been on the wagon for a few months now and I am not looking back. We meet every Monday and Wednesday. | |||

Member Posts: 1406 | Now this is good fun! What was the turning point for you? I still can't admit to myself that I am a CA. There are often times I do go by those isles but it is hard to miss the endcaps, is this a sign that I am addicted? The other day I was trying to spend some Gift Certs that expired soon so I needed to buy something. I managed to get a few lonely guys and even had to get them a new case! Is buying a crank in Dec. a sign that I might be addicted? Good Luck Tyee

| Those are very early stages. Once you start piercing your skin with hundeds of trebles in order to let those beautiful cranks hang from your farmers tanned skin in hopes to be looked upon in favor by the crankbait god...then you are an addict. | |||

| You are not an addict if the purple 2.00 freenzy is working and you steel the wifes purple fingernail polish to paint the 5.00 rapala shad rap your just a redneck. (Only a rednecks wife would have purple fingernail polish!) | |||

Member Posts: 2393 Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | This just in............ News reports are indicating that we are experiencing a stock market crash. Apparently, all indications point to the decline in Crankbait purchases being made in the midwest region of the United States. Thanks a lot Walleye Wolf, Rich S and Brad B........ Now look what you started, a real domino effect!!

Member Posts: 885 | I like crankbaits in moderation, it's the $400 I have invested in Crawler Harnesses that drives me over the edge. How in the heck can one person get addicted to those small beautiful beads and blades. So many colors and shapes and sizes... I blame my older sister for making me play dress up as a kid and wear a neckless. Purple Skeeter

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | If you have to ask how much they are, you cannot afford them. This is a collection that was put together with love man, show some respect. Only the finest in fish catch abilities and a story to go with everyone. years of hard work to collect such an array. Be prepared to spend the day while making your purchases. And they are priced fairly so no asking for a better deal. Oooppppsssss, i just came out of the closent, didn't I? Edited by stacker 1/4/2008 10:34 AM
