| Looking to take the daughter out tomorrow for some eaters. What's going on out there? Should I go to Poygan? Or out from Oshburg? Cranks or crawlers? Deep Mud or the transition to the mud? Any and all help will be appreciated by my smiling daughter. |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | Shep, I plan on taking the boys out tomorrow. We will be launching out of Stockbridge. Before the storms last weekend, I was on a good bite. Hopefully that will be the same for the boys tomorrow. Bring your cell phone with and I will call you about mid morning with a report. |

| Tuesday and Wednesday, I ran all 3 days in the mud form Faro Springs road to Garlic. Hot n Tots, 105 back on 10lb xt and 80 back on 14/6 fireline. Lots of very nice fish and almost no sheephead. 1/3 of the fish were 17+ including a 25 incher on Tuesday. The hot colors for us were Rainbow Trout and Purple Trout (both colors are discontinued and have the plastic lip). Also ran #7 Flicker Shads in Purple Tiger 125 back. Mean Streaks in Lime green chrome took 3 - 20+ on Wednesday
Today, (Thursday) 9 hours on the water and 4 small eyes on our first pass and then nothing and I mean NOTHING for 7 hours, not even a whitebass. We tried everything from DJ's to glass shads to rippers to deep#10 Huskies, I ran harnesses for 3 of those hours and NOTHING again. We were marking a ton of fish, but we could not get them to hit on anything. The water was very dirty and the wind was out of the Northeast. It made for a long day on the water.

I've heard good reports firsthand form Clarks bay running harnesses with small spinners like spin and glows . If bago is the same as it was today, I'd head to Poygan if you want to troll

| I'll second that report PS...never saw it shut down so fast!!!!!.....Same results for me today...going to the big pond tomorrow for some trout!!!!!!

Location: Menasha, WI | Out from 5-9 this morning. Eight eyes including two beauties (25", 22", 18", 2x17", 16", 2x12"), 2 saugers, 2 crappies, a couple dinky smallies, and a couple dozen sheephead. Drifting reefs 1/16th jig w/ crawler, hot pink and blaze orange both produced pretty well. Bite was best in 8'-10' of water. |

| Ran 18 feet of water out from Garlic today, caught 6 Walleyes running Hot n Tots and Glass #5 Perch, 80 back 1.7-1.8. Also caught 4 Jumbo Perch. Ran to East Shore and fished from Stockbridge to CC Park, picked up another 4, all on the Rainbow Hot n Tot. Finished in the mud with 1 Walleye on the Hot n Tot. Tried harnesses today for a couple of hours in the mud... nothing... Lots of guys out on the lake today, did not see many nets. Have to work next week and then it's bak on the water for 9 days. I still can't believe how good Bago was on Mon - Wed and then it turned to crap for me on Thurs & Fri.

Location: Menasha, WI | Out today from 10:30-1:30 w/ my oldest boy. We ran harnesses around the reef for a while and picked up a 12'' eye and a bunch of sheep. Swithced to jig/crawler in the same area where I did well yesterday but could only muster up one more 12" eye and a bunch more sheep. Might hit 'er again tomorrow. |

| Friday was pretty slow on Pygan and Winneconne. Pulled harnesses for a couple hours in and around Clark's, and got a couple 14" eyes, some sheeps, and a couple kittys. Switched to cranks, and nothing. Went to Poygan and tried deeper in the Horshoe, and nothing. Shallower wasn't any better. But I did have fun with both kids out. Eric likes driving the boat, and at 16, does a great job backing in the trailer. Lauren swam several times with the Lab, too. In all, I'm glad to live in the US of A! Happy Independence Day! |

Fished 'Bago thursday 7/3. After the weak front decided to try rock hopping instead of trolling for the day. After moving a handful of times we got into some walleyes. We took 7 home along with a couple perch, threw back a few dinks and lost one or two eaters cause we werent' using the nets. Weather was perfect, beer was cold and the poor people were at work.  |

Location: Northern Illinois | Fished Saturday 7/5 a liitle south of CC Park and trolled north on marks from the previous 2 weekends. We only ended up with 9 eyes from 16-21". All our fish were deep. Best baits were the Matzuo Tourney crank in the tiger perch 3" back 135', 400 series ripshad cheap sunglasses back 130' and 200 series ripshad barenaked back 135'. The 400 ripshad cheap sunglasses has caught nothing but bigger fish for me this year. The Matzuo tiger perch has been the hottest for me, second is the bare naked ripshad.
Bee in south central Minnesota all next week...tight lines.

| I've been reading all of the posts for a few years and finally figured I'd sign up and throw in my .02. Fished Mon and Tues. Tried deep, shallow and in between. After 6 hours of nothing on Monday, I pulled a limit in 2 hours of 13-17"'s off the rocks in 5-7 feet of water. #7 Shad Raps, color did not matter. Tuesday, tried to do the same thing and NADA. Headed to the mud where me and a buddy scratched out a limit in 6 hours, literally in the dead center of the lake. One here, one there. The pattern was: There was no pattern. #7 Shad Raps, DJ's and even an orange F9 on 3 colors of core all produced a few eyes and a lot of sheep. You know I'm desperate when I pull out the core and throw on a crank. What is with all of the pelicans? Must be dead sheephead?? |

Thanks for the report... you should see the Pelicans on the Bay of GB. I have seen flocks that are a Mile long mixed in with the cormorants. Last year, I had a Sheephead on the bay swallow my Reef Runner and there was no way I was going to get it out without injuring him, the Sheephead weighed 8 Lbs. As I threw it back in the water, a Pelican swooped down and ate the fish in 1 bite. Never saw that before.

| A quick comment about pelicans and comorants and we'll leave this for fishing reports. Back when I lived in MN and fished LOTW, pelicans and cormorants were unreal, flocks hundreds of yards long, maybe 1/2 mile, forming "J" hooks and just scoffing up all of "my" walleyes!! &^%$#@!(*&%$% birds!!! I drove down the east shore of Bago tonight on my way home, I could see the rain and lightning coming across the lake, cool sight, but I'm sure the fishing will be screwed up again. What's a guy gotta do to get 4 days of stable weather in a row? Just talked to fellow east shore buddy & proud unibrow sporting fisherman who has struggled the last few days, which is unusual for him. I told him he needed to shave the uni brow for good luck! |

Location: Menasha, WI | The reefs along the west shore are producing fish, but you really have to be on the move for them. One day we are slamming them on a particular hump and the next day, we cannot get one on that same spot. We have been bouncing around alot and picking up 2 to 3 fish on every reef we have been fishing. On 7/10/2008 we had 16 walleyes, 5 perch, several smallies, several sheeps, 1 rock bass and 1 whitebass. We were using small 1/16 oz. Northland Tackle jigs and we tipped them with half a crawler. We have not had much luck on leeches lately and I am fishing with 100% crawlers right now.
Overall trolling has been very hit and miss throughtout the pond. I have had a few reports from a few different fishermen that one day it is Shad Raps, the next day it is hot-n-tots and so on. Colors do not seem to make much of a difference for all those that have been trollling. The common theme is that the whitebass are everywhere and one day it is good and the next day it is not good at all.
One of the questions that habe been asked to me a lot in the last few weeks is why is everything so far behind this year. I really do not have a degree in Mother Nature, but here are my thoughts on this. This year we had a lot of cooler nights earlier in the year and the water temps are still low compared to this time last year. We also had a lot of run off from the winter and then a feww weeks ago we had a lot of rain and this brought up the water table a lot. You toss in a great forage base and now these fish really have no reason to come back to Bago, when they have all they need in the river and the upper lakes. Now this is just my thought, so take it for what it is.
Some areas that have been producing fish are as follows.
Stevens Reef= We have been visiting here daily in 6 to 9 feet of water and have picked up a few walleyes and a few perch on every stop. Most of the walleyes here are from 13 to 16 inches. Not huge, but good eaters. Same deal, we are dragging 1/16 oz jigs tipped with only crawlers right now.
Haystack Reef= Several boats here during the morning hours but it clears out around 11 AM. I stopped here last week and had nothing but sheeps.
Outer Bar= Lots of people here and they are packed in tight. I have not gone here and do not plan too. Too many boats for me. Although I drove past here the other day and I saw a lot of people with slip bobbers out. I did not see a fish get caught though.
Little Blackbird Island= This area continues to be popular for those who are searching for perch. Most are out early in the morning and again are either deadsticking or using slip boobers. If you want friends, go here and join this growing community.
Gehrkes Reef= Plenty of action for walleyes and smallies but the quality is not very good. I had a report that this area is also being pounded pretty heavy all day long.
The mouth of the Fox river= Plenty of people trolling here with harnesses and Scootchie Rigs. There not having much success, but there still seems to be a lot of bigger size fish here. I also heard that the cats are really thick along the drop off, near the old pioneer. I do not catfish, but am passing this onto you for your information.
Jesuit Retreat= A few bluegills and crappies being caught here on small rat finks like you use for ice fishing tipped with red worms. Size seems pretty good too. I may have to make a run there in the next week to try and get some gills in the freezer. I really love to eat gills. I am very suprized to see the amount of bluegills and crappies this year. Awesome to see what a great fishery we have right here in NE Wisconsin.
Stockbridge Area= Plenty of people trolling out in the mud, but mixed results. A lot of people searching for perch also on the rocks close to shore. Some are having luck and others are not. Perch guys never tell you where they are anyhow, we all know that....LOL
Pipe= Several people fishing with slip boobers in or around the artificial cribs and having some success for perch. I was told gold hooks and gold colored jigs were the key here and that you need to have that bait only 2 to 3 inches off the bottom or they will not hit it at all.
Abrahams Reef= Doing well for some walleyes close to dusk and a few perch showing up here as well.
The southern part of the lake still seems to be generally slow overall. I do not gewt a lot of reports from down south, nor do I fish there too often, but after looking at several different websites and talking with several people, it seems they all agree the south is not the place to be.
Fleet Farm Reef= We had some very nice smallies here and one was just a tad over 22 inches. I did not weigh it, so no clue as to what it weighed, but it was a fun fight and swam away for all you tourney guys to catch again. These were all caught in the sand to gravel transition are in 11 feet of water. fleet Farm Reef is located in the NW corner of the lake just around the corner from Jefferson Park.
The next week or so I will be on the water and most likely jigging the west shore reefs with crawlers and small jigs. I hope to see some of you out there. This is what I have heard and what I know, I hope you enjoyed the report.

| Axl, are you anchoring or drifting? Also, what size hooks are use with the 1/16 oz. Northland Tackle jigs? I wasn't sure if they were fireball jigs, gumdrop jigs, or others.

| Fished 'Bago sunday 7/14/08 with Brad B for SWC interclub tourney. WIND was the word of the day and lots of it. I'd really like a couple of days to fish this year where it would be a 5mph wind. Geeesh....
Fished rocks, bouncing (literally) around from spot to spot several times, jigs and bobbers with leeches, with bobbers being the preference of the day. We picked up 6 walleyes kept four 14-16".

Location: Menasha, WI | Fished this afternoon from 4:30-7:30. Got 4 eyes in the first hour drifiting jigs (kept 2 @ 14") since they were on the smaller side I decide to hop around a little but found only one nice crappie and a few small perch. The water has really cleared yup on the north end.
Anybody have any tips on targeting the crappies? I've been getting some really nice ones but its one-here-one-there, usually when drifitng Lindy's w/ spinner. Haven't really tried to pattern them but wouldn't mind a dozen or so for a meal.

| Hit the water today at 5am and ran the mud in the middle East of Garlic. Bugs were very bad, could not eat or drink while trolling. 2 small Walleyes on Hot n Tots, Purple Trout, tried harnesses for 2 hours, 2 very small Walleyes 8 inches long and nothing else. Ran to the mouth of the River in Oshkosh and picked up another 3 dinks in 14 feet of water running Shadraps in Black/Silver and Perch. Ran back to fish Garlic, 17 feet of water, 2 small Walleyes and 2 crappies on harnesses trolling (weird). Got off the lake and hit the road just as the storms unleashed their furry. Overall, it was a day of messing with the bugs, slow action, an empty livewell and no real pattern to get excited about.

Location: Freedom, WI | Made it out tonight after the storms rolled through, hit up Outer Bar since I launched out of Jefferson and an East wind picked up as I got out to Davis Point. Glad I didn't run down to the Mansur area, there were 3+ footers out there for awhile. Anyways managed 6 Walleyes, 14.5-17". All caught on crawlers on the top of the reef on orange jigs on bobbers or over the side. It was really tough to get the boat on the spot, since the wind kept switching throughout the night. I guess I just had the itch to get out there, as it has been since Otter Street for me! Also learned that the storms don't shut the reef fish completely off! Has anyone else been out with any success lately? I am thinking about making a trip up to the bay but have not heard of much going on as of late. |

| out today 7:00 till 3:30.nothing till 2:07 21" walleye then 2 more by 2:45. 16" &15" walleye. sat with bobbers, jiged,trolled reefs ,mud. got them trolling long pt. |

| Fished the mud 16' to 18' on Wednsday am from about 8 to noon. I think we boated about 12 and lost a couple more. I do not believe we had more than two fish on any one bait. Trolled cranks and the fish definately moved deeper once the sun came up. |

| Got my butt kicked this morning. Only 3 eyes -- two of them <11", one at 16". Jiggged the Outer Bar first thing this morning and picked up the 16" right away. Drifted there a while longer, nothing but a few sheeps. Moved to the Lighthouse Reef, just a catfish and more sheeps. Moved to Fleet Farm, more sheep. Headed out to the mud in 17'+ trolled cranks, nothing. Put on the crawler harnesses and picked up the 2 small eyes and a few more sheeps. |
