Hey all, I am dying just like the rest of you I am sure for some open water. We have some warm temps on the way and was wondering if you think Depere might be open for Sunday? I have not been up there recently. Shoot me an email if possible and let me know.

When I drove over the bridge last Sunday there was open water from the damn down to the bend. It might be close if we have two days of mid 40s Thursday and Friday.

Four gates open at the Menasha dam today. That should get the current rolling. Hopefully, things will be just about right the week of March23-27.

Don't plan on this weekend, with a little luck (rain, not snow over the weekend) and some work at the rivermouth landing maybe by Mon. or Tues. A good week before you can get out of Fox Point yet, unless someone has a front end loader.

Too far to drive and it gives me the creeps being that close to Minnesota.

If you're really desperate, the Menasha channel above the dame is wide open However, I'm from MN and I only live a few hundred feet from the river -- I'm not sure how that measures on your creepiness meter.

I may actually dump the boat in there on Sunday to make she she's running well so I'm prepapred for the DePere run. If I do, I'll have to play with my long sticks a little.

I just might have to sit in my boat in the garage and drink beer this weekend.

Darn trollers can't even turn the kicker off when they are sitting in the garage.

Come on guys, if you really want to being back the feeling you had while trolling last year just sit in your chair half asleep with a bag of potato chips

Nope, the chips aint the same unless they're kinda moist and chewy from the gnats and lake flies.   Seeeeee, there's much more to it than meets the jiggers untrained eye!!

I can see how you may think that trolling is like that Rich, when you are fishing with thumper.

Norris made me say that.

With the weather forecast MAYBE next weekend but don't count on it. You can get out in a small boat if you are willing to push it out over the ice.

Thanks for the update even though it is bad.

Denny, truthfully I am a closet potato chip eater. Every year that door opens more and more. 250lbs is just a few seasons away

Went over the 172 bridge yesterday and saw three boats in the river fishing, but there was a lot of ice in the river yet. I just checked the weather radar and it looks like the Wisconsin, Illinois border is going to get pounded with rain again today. I hope it don't bring the river level up to high at Spring valley.

Spring valley is toast for the next week or so, maybe longer.

I hear sheps got the breakfast thing going with Gofron next weekend. See, now you got something to do. The St Joe River in Michigan was just flowing yesterday. We were out for 8 hours or so, rained half the time. A couple of walleyes and lost 2 steelhead. The pipe flowing into the river was at full force. This pipe is 8 foot diameter and man it was just dumpin water.
