| No way with the weather and 3 fish per person rule in effect, will you see over 30 pounds. After you put your five fish in the live well you have to go down to three lines. | |||

Member Posts: 3899 | You are assuming all will be trolling. I can see a big weight coming from the river again this year. 5 in the well won't have an impact there. But man, what a temperature drop overnight! Must be Merc Nats time. The weather sucks! I think 26.4 to win it.

Why would you have to go to 3 lines in the water after 5 fish? The tourney rules state 6 fish in the well, but state law allows for 10. Thus, all 6 lines may still be in use as you have not broken either law set forth at the 5 in the livewell mark. I think 31.23 to win. Yes Jerry, there are fish outside of winnebago that will not be mixed up by this weather, and they sum goodens as well.

| Interesting discussion regarding the 6 limit live-well rule. Not sure how this one should be ruled. At first blush, it would appear to me that you would indeed be limited to only three lines once you reached 5 fish. I understand the state law allows a limit of 10 but aren't you governed by the tourney rules of only 6. For instance, fishing the Fox River in De Pere there is a 6 fish limit and would require a reduction to three lines once you garner that 5th fish. Any other insight would be most welcomed as I am confused as to how this would be ruled. | |||

There should also only be one angler handling rods as well. If a tourney director does not highlight a change to an existing rule in there written rules that is more stringent than the rules set forth by the local DNR, then the rule defaults to the DNR.

| I did not realize each tournament incorporated that specific language into their rules. Therefore, this scenario only applies where the tournament rules are more restrictive than the local/state regulations. Then, everything is basically defaulted to the regulations set forth by the local DNR unless highlighted by the tournament director. I wonder if tournament directors have ever contemplated the notion of tailoring their rules as it relates to each specific body of water. Might be a way to avoid ambiguity. | |||

| Yup, agree with you Jerry. I've fished to many crappy weather tourneys and being on the sidelines in this weather doesn't hurt one bit. But, talking to Boomer, 3rd day of a cold front should mean your catching fish. Fish were biting each day it's just the lake fish that are usually effected by the cold front. All I have to say is good luck to the guys and be safe. Dave | |||

Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | I'm going to change my guess slightly, mainly because I thought it was a 5 fish limit and it's 6. I'll go with 24.23 lbs to win. Good luck to all the competitors and be safe!!
