Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | Has anyone been out? Seems like a real lack of reporting if anyone has been. I've heard some good reports of action off Brotherstown for eyes and white bass, but not much on perch.

| Think you should go there this weekend and find out. Then report to us. And Mr Moderator, bring your camera! | |||

Member Posts: 82 Location: Oshkosh,WI | Jerry- I told you how it was at the "Sportsman" on Saturday, Sunday was much better! More people out off of Oshkosh and much colder & more wind, but I've experienced better "action" on Winnebago when it is crappier out. We had a slew of W Bass(huge)/Perch & a good number of Eyes tucked in jigging & tip-ups were both very active.

| My friends and I hit Winnebago today searching for some wallensteins. Boy oh boy....If everyday could be this easy, it would be called catching instead of fishing. Perch were everywhere. Behind the perch came walleyes. The fish were on the camera and flasher all day up until 3:00 this afternoon. After that it was hard to even mark a fish. I will say that we were no where near the2-3 groups of people out from Oshkosh. Tried there but only seen fish and could not get the walleyes to bite. Had a bunch of fish and one big one that I could not get up a 6" hole. Ice condtions were great. 18-21" of ice in every sot I drilled. Very solid Clear ice. Travel is pretty easy as well. There are some drifts but the snow is hard enough to drive on. Most cars and trucks can go anywere. Good Luck, Mr.Bluegill | |||

Member Posts: 377 Location: Neenah Wi | Was out off ceape st too.Only managed to get 2 perch.Saw a couple of eyes on the camera but no takers. The bridge across the crack had a bit of water on the shoreward side so I decided to go around it.No I did not care to see how deep the water was.I did follow someone elses tracks to the right of the bridge. The snow was pushing the water up out of the holes in a couple of spots. But driving conditions were ok with a 4 wheel drive.

Member Posts: 69 Location: Chilton | Finished with 25 white bass and 2 15" Walleye yesterday fishing off Quinney. There's group at 3 miles and a group at 4 miles. Fish are around that area, just keep drilling holes. Jiggin Raps, I used blue and silver. Road is plowed out of Quinney 5 miles, and Otter Street picks it up from there. The Otter Street plows were at Quinney yesterday afternoon, so the road is freshly plowed all the way across. Please stop at Jerry's or the Quinney Quencher before or after being on the ice and pick up a road pass to help with some of the costs for maintaining the road. The passes at Quinney are 5 bucks.

Member Posts: 874 Location: Neenah, WI | As far as driving conditions I'll fill you in a bit. Once you get off the roads it can be a bit tricky. There are areas of broken ice under the snow that can make driving pretty rough. The ice is solid but looks like the surface of the moon. We pulled a couple of guys that got hung up but it wasn't too serious. Paynes Point Hook and Spear Club has a road plowed out 4 miles and then cuts south to hook up with the Brickyard Clubs road to Calumet County Park. It's a bit rough in spots but wide and solid. We've also plowed toward Garlic Island and toward the Fresh Air Camp. As the spearers start bringing their shacks out we'll be plowing more so that they can get to their favorite spots. You can stop by the clubhouse on County A for more info.

Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | Well, I never did make it out this weekend. I think my ice fishing is done for the year. Just trying to keep busy with organizing stuff for the open water. How was the bite this weekend?

Member Posts: 41 | Mistake. I havn't drilled a hole yet....but am looking foward to a good year. The best fishing is when your standing on shore debating if the shorelines can take you once more.

Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | I believe you Al, but by the time that happens, there's usually open water at DePere or Green Bay and I end up spending all my time there. Plus, if the Wolf opens up, I'll need to get out there too. Just too many options when that happens.

Member Posts: 284 | Stop in at Ed's (Tews Too). He is about 5 minutes from jumping on at Ceape. He is across the river on 45 on the right side when heading south. Probably a mile from the river. Been servicing the fine folks of Oshkosh with bait for many many years.

Member Posts: 377 Location: Neenah Wi | Well I went off ceape st AGAIN yesterday for the night bite.I took the road to the south this time and as I got to the turn 2 guys were digging their cherokee out with their hands so i let them use my shovel.Stayed for about an hour and only saw a perch on the camera.Moved in about a 1/2 mile and decided to stay until dark.About 5:30 I finally had my 3rd hard water eye of the year about a 17" fatty.I continued to fish for about an hour and a half I had about 20 good marks on the vex and do you think one would bite. What is the deal.I had changed baits numerous times and had a tip-up and a slip bobber in the other 2 holes.Put a whole minnow and heads on the jigs, pimples, raps and buck shots and not one hit. From the looks of these fish after cleaning the one I did get they sure are fat laiden.I guess they don't have to eat, they have enough fat to last them.Lots of bugs on the camera down there.I would say the baitfish population is doing well too.Sucks for the fisherman but not the fish.
