How many of you Walleye Firsters' would like to participate in a get together on Lake Erie waters? If Lake Erie is not good, then some other place. Let's hear from you with some ideas.

We are on the same page. We are both interested in making something happen. We would just like to see if we can get some more people to help. If we can get 5, or 6 guys to help with the planning, organizing, and footwork, it will make it a lot easier. If I may make a suggestion with no disrespect intended, I would like to avoid the term "Get Together" Walleyecentral already has that claim, and we actually want to promote Walleyefirst. I would suggest we call it something like "Walleyefirst Walleye Weekend" or something similar. We don't want to have 2 get togethers in the same timeframe. People may confuse the two. What are some of the things you, the general population here would like to see? What time frame would you like to have such an event? Let us know. We want to make this an enjoyable time for all of us, and build on it. Thanks for taking the time to hear me ramble on, and Let's hear from you.

Great!! I would like to us try to arrainge this for the Vermillion area if possible. But the Masses will have a say in the decision. It is our event not mine.

Bo582 and Steve:

I have contacted the Vermillion Chamber of Commerce, and the City Director, and they both said we are welcome with open arms! The date of November 5th is taken by Walleyecentral. My thought is maybe we try for the weekend of October 29th. That way people who want to take a week of vacation (which many do for this event)can attend both events. The City Director is sending me an info packet containing stuff on ramps, docking, restaurants, lodging, bait/tackle stores, meeting halls, etc. I'll get back with you guys when this packet arrives. Any other volunteers????

I'd like the idea of having the two events close together, but a weeks stay anywhere involves a monetary cost and family sacrifice that might be to heavy for most. I'd like to see it on a weekend totally separated from WC's event. If I noticed anything about the Vermillion/Huron area these last two years I've went down there, is the bite last virtually from Mid-October through to Mid-December sometimes. That is unless Saturday the 6th of November was the WF tourney/frendship date and could be included in one weekend along with the Nov 7th WC get together at Vermillion/Huron.

We were extremely lucky to hit T-shirt weather in November this past year that we did. I'd like to ideally see the Walleyes First Ho-down around the first part of the fall walleye bonanza and make it a good excuse to go down twice to Lake Erie.

I would think that we wouldn't want to go after the first weekend in November due to the weather just becoming way to unstable. Earlier would be good, like say around the 1st of October. But we also are not against warmer weather times like around June. It's just the planning stages folks, and Dan thanks for the imput you express a valid point on the finances, and family thing. Lets hear from more folks.

I vote for early June when they're still in close and accessible to all. No worry about the temp either. Erie Metro.

Thanks Terroreyes, would you like to pitch in and help us organize? I would prefere June just because of the weather being more stable, the kids are out of school, most people have vacation time left, the fish are active, the Temperature is warm, and there is plenty of things for family members that don't fish to do like Cedar Point, the Islands, beaches, shopping etc. The advantage of fall is less pleasure boats, and the walleye are huge!!. Let's hear more!!

I don't want to sound negative about this, but there is a chance a number of guys will have difficulty in June because of all the tournaments that are usually slated for that time. Just off the top of my head I can think of: 2-PWT events, 1-RCL event, 2-GNWC events, 1-MWC event, the "Wave Wacker Invitational", plus RCL League events as well as other popular events in Wisconsin. Of course, there are also all the state circuits to consider as well.

For the largest turn out of members on this board, it might be better to look more in the later fall when all the tournament commitments are past.

Just my thoughts, I might be wrong.

Gotta agree with Jake.

Plus, I know He and I would probably be in the middle of charter date obligations during that time, so you might not see us there. But, this isn't about us or arranging a timetable around a couple charter captains. I'd try my best to be there at any time if other obligations didn't get in the way. Might even try and fish out of my sled with In-Lines for kicks and giggles. That might lower the wave higth criterior, but I've taken my boat for a trailered pleasure ride before.

Yeah, you two are probably right. Looking at it too much from a pleasure fishermans perspective here. Definitely need a few weeks apart from the other party though and earlier will probably be better. October 16 weekend looks like it wouldn't conflict with anything.

I'd vote for and probably make an October fishing date. That's after the summer season and prior to the other seasons that get my attention that time of the year. But I think the guys doing the leg work should have the final say.

Mid October would work for me, that way the check I'll get for winning the RCL Championship will have time to clear the bank, so I can buy a round for everyone. That is assuming that I qualify to be in the RCL championship. hehehe, Pat

Hey you guys, Thanks for all the input. Mid October should be good for me, too with all the GNWC Tournaments and a few that I'm going to fish and my own tournament to run, by the way, my tournament is definately going to be on the 11th and 12th of September out of Au Gres, Michigan. We'll have applications soon. Let's keep hearing from you guys and gals about this. The walleye week-end, that is.

Ok guys October appears to be the month of choice for most. The Huron Booster Club meeting ran by Steve Carlson is the weekend of Oct.9th. That will have a decent draw. That Leaves the October 2nd, and 3rd, October 16th,and 17th, October 23rd,and 24th, and October 30th,and 31st. Does anyone have a conflict with any of the these dates. I believe Captain Dan said something about trying to keep a couple of weeks between this and walleyecentral's event. What do you guys think? What date best fits everyones schedule?

That potentially may be the weekend of the MWC championship. Where are you thinking, Vermillion?
