| Bill Diedrich and I are coming back to Appleton to put on a Lowrance School and I have added a separate mapping software class. We have just put a description of the classes and a preliminary schedule on www.hightechfishing.com. We will add a few more dates as we get seminar rooms lined up. I had no idea how complicated it is to give seminars out of town, almost as difficult as tournament fishing. Doc | |||

| Shep, Marketing the classes is hard as reaching interested people is difficult. This site allows me to post info which is very helpful. I would appreciate any ideas on speading the word. We will have flyers in sporting goods stores. Thank you, Doc | |||

Member Posts: 3899 | Doc, call the Gander in Appleton, and ask for Justin Gaiche. He's a really good guy, and the fishing dept manager here. I'm sure he will help. If you need a site, I know a couple good ones. Maybe you could get a hold of John Gillespie, and do a show with him. I can just hear it now. "Hey Doc, look at the map! There's the Leinies plant! And look at that sonar! Big hooks, Doc! Big hooks, Doc! Big hooks, Doc! Big hooks, Doc!" hehehe I f you need any names of the other local shops, let us know. Edited by Shep 11/8/2005 1:30 PM

Member Posts: 213 Location: Forest Lake, MN | Any one in the Dec 3 class that wants one will get a CD with some imagery of interesting lakes here in Minnesota that will work with Fugawi or Global Mapper. I was thinking of including this one but it had too much reflection light, but no use in wasting it. For any one that fishes Pelican in Crow Wing. http://groups.msn.com/Walleyemaps/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&Pho... WarrenMN Edited by WarrenMN 11/21/2005 9:49 PM

Member Posts: 3899 | Well, this has really come up quickly. As usual, I put the registration on the backburner, and forgot about it. Doc, is the class filled? If not, can I still get in? Jerry, you going to be there? Edited by Shep 1/1/2006 10:19 AM

| Doc Any chance of do some seminars in alberta? How many students are required to make it worth while? I'm sure we wouln't have a problem selling out such a class. | |||

Member Posts: 86 | Topwater, Alberta is a long way. Overhead increases with long trips. More time away from home. Advertising, marketing, setting up the seminar, doing business in Canada and figuring out taxes is more difficult. I haven't looked into it. I love fishing in Canada but I haven't tried to work in Canada so thereare many unknowns but the distance is the biggest problem. We are doing seminars in Kansas City and Des Moines this year but they are Fri and Sat to save on the traveling. Doc

| Doc, You could come to Billings Mt and have a class. I'm sure it would fill easily. Our neighbors to the North could come down too! How bout it? | |||

Member Posts: 86 | Maybe someday but the distance increases overhead and I have only so much time. I would do more if iI could do them during the week as there are only so many weekends for my wife as I use up many fishing tournamnets, sport shows, store Grand Openings, sponsor promotional events, and more. I have found work to support my fishing habit.

Member Posts: 3899 | Sorry for the late report, but my boss has been on a sugar buzz lately, and I am swamped. I attended Doc's Lowrance school last Thursday. I signed up for both classes, and I was not disappointed. The Lowrance Sonar Class was a great refresher for me on how sonars work, how to use them, how to adjust them for optimum effectiveness. Bill and Doc worked well together, and were very effective team. Good presentation, with excellent multimedia on two screens. There were about 35 others in the class, and some very good questions were asked, and answerred. The features of the latest Lowrance units were presented, and the emulators were used exstesively. The second class was on how to make your own contour maps. This is the real reason I went. Very interesting method Doc has developed using 3D Field, Fugawi, and Global Mapper. For as little as $200, you can make your own contour maps, save them as trails, and transfer these trails to your Lowrance GPS. Pretty cool stuff. Some of the stuff Doc is doing with Warren is amazing. Aerial photos with contour overlays! This is some very cool technology. I am glad I went. I recommend Doc's classes no matter your skill level. I believe I am quite proficient with my sonar and GPS, but there were things I wasn't doing, or aware of. As I said, great refresher fo me, and I heard very positive feedback from the others there. I think everyone that sells sonars and GPS's should attend this school, as well as your average angler looking to get the most out of his equipment. Thanks DOC and Bill.
