guest,

It takes a lot of bravado to come on here and talk smack without using your real name. Then again, given the drivel you typed here maybe your birth mother didn't like you and named you guest.

Congratulations to the Bears and their real fans who stand behind their team and type there true name. Good luck next week.

Yup, the Bears are the class of the North Division. They beat a bad Seattle team, Bearly! If the 5th string DB hangs on to the pick in the 1st qaurter, I think Gross Rexman goes in the tank, and Seattle wins, going away. Also, If Holmgren trys the 50 yarder, and doesn't punt it in the end zone for a net if 16 yards, they probably win the game.

Lot of what ifs in that game yesterday. Fact is the Bears are not that good, and were lucky to win. But look out when the Saints come up to Soldier Field next week. You'll be watching the SB, just like the other 30 teams.

Am I talking about the right game? Or was it Reid that punted on 4 and 1? Maybe Holmgren went for it, and made it? Too much good football watched this weekend. When is Marty going to win a playoff game? It certainly didn't seem like he coached too conservative this game. Again, if the guy doesn't fumble after the pic, the Chargers win.

My prediction is Saints Vs. Patriots.

AHHH Shep. That saints running game will not be the same here.( outdoors and cold) For some reason this team finds a way to win, sorta like the way the pack was in the heyday of there sb runs. Both teams made alot of boo boo`s but the timing of them was in our favor. The game sunday will be the same way I think.
But bottom line is we are still playing!!!!!!

I don't hunt bears, even though there are LOTS of them on my land. I like whitetail, that's good eating. Some folks tell me bear is as good, but I see what they eat. And, when you skin one, it looks very human like hanging there.

Why is it that when the Packers or other teams win in the style the Bears did yesterday, they kicked butt. However, when the Bears get the W, it was lucky. C'mon all you Packer fans, don't be so sad. the Bears are defending the NFC North. You don't have to like them, but at least cheer them on. Like John said, the Bears are still playing. I actually cheered on the Pack when the Bears weren't in it, believe it or not. Wow! Did I actually say that in public? Alcohol low level light must be blinking.

Nevermind.....

In all seriousness, I was at the Tri Esox Muskie Show in the Chicago area yesterday, and every TV in every booth was playing the Bears Game instead of product/guiding/etc video. When the scored the place rocked for a couple minutes. The Chicago folks take their football seriously.

There is no way in heck, that I can root for the bears. I rooted for them one time. I wanted walter to get his superbowl ring. The next year, when they lost to Philly in the fog, was great.

I don't see them beating the saints, the bears are not that good. Their defense has slipped, that was the only thing they had going for them.

Saints and Indy in the superbowl.

Well I'm a Bears fan and I'm enjoying the win! Seems most here feel a need to find something to pick apart about this team. I'll take the 14-3 record and a chance at the SB again. They are lucky enough to just keep on winning, so I say just keep playing every game like the last and just win.

I'm glad the Saints won, I did'nt want to see an outdoor team that was on a roll like Philly was (thank you Saints). Oh well it's nice to have a winner again, and the future looks bright. They seem to draft well and get guys that play perfectly into their system. This could very well be their year, time will tell. If they play a good game next week and one of the better ones of the season in the SB they could very well win it.

If they do somehow lose this week, it will be a heartbreak, but givin the avg age and skill of the squad they should still be around a few years in contention for the crown.

By the way Shep, if the Bears would have picked those 2 passes early in the game (one of which was a sure TD) the game would'nt have been close! However thats why they play the whole game and "if's" are for people looking for an excuse! lol

Not picking on the Bears, but I must have hit the nerve that you all know this tema is not that good. At least not as good as the were early in the season. They miss Harris alot, and Mike Brown even more. That's two huge pieces of their defense. Fact is, teams can run, and pass on them. As for the offense, the run game is mediocre, at best. Grossman is hard to figure. He looks great one game, but then the next, he comes out with a zero QB rating. As for the dropped pick, all I'm saying is if he hangs on, Rex's confidence goes down the tube, and you've got Griese, who's never been in a playoff gmae. Scary

Saints should win this weekend. The running gmae is too much. And the Saints defense will be just good enough.

Saints vs Pats in the SB!

Chicago won 13 games (lost to Miami, at NE, and gave a game to GB). They scored 427 points, only San Diego scored more. They gave up only 255 points, only Baltimore and NE were better... Are they as good as they were early in the season? No. But they are still the class of the NFC.

New Orleans is a great team as well. To overcome what they have (and still are) is amazing. That said, dome teams typically don't perform very well outside in the playoffs. Chicago could lose, but they would have to make a lot of mistakes for that to happen.

Me, I could care less what happens. Open water fishing is right around the corner - I have no time for trival things like Super Bowls.

Not that good compaired to who? I mean the watered down NFL is about the "now". Few teams in this league can win 13 games in the regular season. I'm sure it's very hard to stay focused when you have the Div and then homefield wrapped up by the 12th week of the season. The Bears pound the ball at teams in the running game, they don't spread them out and play the cat and mouse game. They beat up the D line and control the clock. To say that their running game isn't very good is kinda of a mistake. So they have a different approch than say SD, that does'nt mean it's not effective. Their whole game plan hinges on the QB making a few plays during the course of the game. Run Run and Run some more then hit that quick hitter slant or that one deep ball once a quarter, Then just play D, sure it's the Tampa 2, your gonna give up some yards, just don't give up the big plays.
It's fun to watch a team that just lines up week after week and says here it is, now beat us. Few teams do that anymore, they have to ad trick plays and change things from week to week to compete. Good strong D is how you win in the playoffs, and the Bears are better than avg. I'll be glued to the set watching every play, can't wait to see a fair weather Dome team that relys on fast cuts and screens, trying to perform on the Frozen turf!

Gordy,

Bear's D is better than average, yes. But, as I said they miss Harris and Brown. They were an awesome, fearsome D. Now they are just better than average. I think the Saints D is better than average, too. Trick plays. You mean like fake punts?

While I am a Packer fan, and I hate the Bears, I did root for them in 85, mostly because of Walter Payton. I still say he was hurt when they gave the ball to the fat guy to score in the SB. Now that was disrespecting probably the best RB of all time.

as for the uncle shep comment. Huh? I don't have an aunt, or an uncle. Are you saying you are somebodies Aunt? You certainly have no balls.

You guys know something? Everyone wants to say that the north was weak this year. Man, the teams that come out of there won't make it one week! In reality you should be rooting for the Bears to go to the super bowl. Why? Because that will make all the poor records look better. Think about it.

The aunt/uncle thing (not posted by me btw) most likely wasn't intended as an insult. I've heard that phrase used when people are trying to point out that there are a lot of "what if's" in everything we do BUT we are measured by what we do accomplish instead of what we could have. What if the guy doesn't fumble?

As they say on ESPN... that's why they play the games.

OK, I've not heard that. Or maybe I have, and forgotten. In which case I am sorry. I can't edit that part out, so it Zach or Steve wil have to delete it.

Always a lot of ifs in football, or any sport. All I'm saying is the Bears are perhaps what Denny thought they were. And they had a better defense then, than they do now. I thought the NFC North was supposed to be the worst Division in the NFL. I submit that it might really be the NFC West!

When the facts ( 14-3 ) get overshadowed by emotions , it's a sad sad day .
The bears still play slash and run , thats their game ( 3 GOOD backs ).
Not always exciting , but effective . We all know that a win is a win .
I'll be there sunday , rooting on the Bears to bring the NFC crown home .
My favorite games are the match ups with the pack , the fans and level of excitement are unbeliveable . A Bears fan , YES , A NFC North fan , Always !

I love it when the best thing a packer fan can come up with is "bears still suck", it's code for "we suck, and i'm not smart enough to say anything intelligent to express my feelings of embarassment".

Have fun watching the sucky bears in the super bowl from your ice house.
