Member Posts: 1991 | You guys that tie your own spinners and snells, what kind of line are you using? I have been using Triple Fish camo Perlon, but it is hard to find

Member Posts: 625 Location: LaCrosse, WI | I've used a lot of different lines and usually end up back with Trilene XT 12lb for rivers and most lakes, and 20lb for the great lakes (particullarly Green Bay). I did however like the 15lb Vanish that I tried last year. It seemed to work as well or better than the mono. It's just that much more expensive though.

Member Posts: 3899 | 15 lb Flouro for all my spinners. Specifically Sequar Flouro. But I also have used Scientific Angler Flouro with equal results.

| ||
| 20# Vanish for everything for Bago and the Bay. I especially like he fact that when the crawler comes of the first hook and is only hooked on the second hook, the vanish prevents the crawler from spinning and causing line twist. Since I switched, I have never used anything else and the larger diameter does not affect the fish at all. Purple Skeeter | |||

Member Posts: 265 Location: Lincolnshire, IL | I absolutely hate to agree with Shep but, 15# Seaguar CarbonPro is what I use, have also used the 17# P-Line Flourocarbon and haven't noticed a difference. I believe both came with a FREE knot guide...LOL!

| Whatever you do don't use flourocarbon unless you plan on not catching any fish and never having to worry about your line breaking. All brands of flouro are JUNK. If you want my opinion, go with 25lb cajun. And for all you flouro lovers check this out http://tackletour.com/reviewfluorocarbon2.html | |||

Member Posts: 265 Location: Lincolnshire, IL | I often become confused and lost when reading that scientific stuff...I just use products and if they don't fail me...well...I'll just be sure not to hang 3 lb. weights off of my spinner rigs when they are wet for extended periods of time and as always I will not horse the big ones in and adjust my drag when needed to address the knot strength issue. -Flouro Lover(this goes for toothpaste as well

Member Posts: 3899 | I used to tie my rigs with 17# XT. When I started fishing with the posse, I started doing things differently. One of those things was to switch to 15# Flouro for my spinner rigs. I'll let their record speak for itself. One thing that article did not address was the superior abrasion resistance of the flouro's over plain mono. Kind of important when fishing in zebra infested waters, and for critters with teeth..

Member Posts: 56 | 17# p-line is what I use, landed a 36" and 41" muskie with it so far this year, also several huge sheephead and monster cats, I think the p-line ties a little nicer than the Vanish also.

Member Posts: 182 Location: Green Bay, WI. | 20lb P-Line for all my harnesses with 1/0 red hooks. If the fish can't fit a 1/0 hook in it's mouth I don't want it my boat.

Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | All my spinner rigs are tied with 15lb. Seaguar CarbonPro Fluorocarbon. I've never had a failure in a knot or this line yet. It has the abrasion resistent qualities I need to fish the Bay and the invisible quality for the clear water.

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | wow, seems like alot of you older than me guys, pat, jerry, larry, shep, sunshine are using the wrong line again. Flouro is Junk!! | I'd have to agree with you deny, this thread is quite the hoot, its ALMOST as funny as the thread you claimed to "discover" the revolution 4 prop works well on tuffy boats. I'll admit i've been spanked by guys in my boat using flouro when i wasn't, but any flouro i've used just doesn't hold up, rendering itself junk, at least to me. Member Posts: 3899 | Yep, and two guys who have won over $1 Million, that is $1,000,000, between them in Walleye tourneys trusted junk flourocarbon line to help them win all that money. Boy, I bet they wish they had talked to Slipknot before they entered those tourneys. Aimlessly trolling, with flourocarbon. What a bunch of idiots!

Flouro????????pfft.....Those million dollar men you speak of Shep get lots of free line and respool often! Does it REALLY make a difference? Good Luck Tyee

Member Posts: 3899 | I respool often. What's your point? You guys think that all the "pros" get ALL their stuff for free. Keep thinking that. My point is that they use what works best for them. Period. Free or not.

Member Posts: 1382 | I switched to all fluorocarbon (20 lb vanish) this year on my harnesses. Shep tuned me on to it this spring up in Oconto (that day put them to the test, remember shep?). Worked so well I use if for my willow cat snells as well. Holds up way better to nicks, WAY better, than the mono I used to use. You can actually use a harness on multiple fish without switching them out due to nicks. My hooks on my willow cat snells usually get bent over and dull from rocks before the line gets nicked up. I actually felt like a complete stooge for being so late to hop on the bandwagon.
