What weight will it take to win the Green Bay MWS tournament? Remember it is a four fish limit. Who will be team of the year?

Actually, I am going to say, 22#'s. Doesn't matter if the wind blows or not.

The bite's going to be tough - keep your first four 18"ers and go in

Funny or No?

That may be closer to the truth than you think Bob.

The only chance 4 18'' er's win is if it is a snow storm and we are stuck in the river and even then it probably wouldn't be enough but the bite has been tough but look for it to take around 34 lbs to win.

Kinda far away to predict with any confidence for me. I'll chime in next week when we know what the weather is going to be like.

Yeah, what he said.

39? 4 10's? I want to see that. I may even delay my departure to Moline to see those fish weighed in.

i would expect more weights in the 30# category if they were launching out of marinette/menominee area......there are big fish south this time of year, but it's been proven this time of the year the north dominates on big fish......if there is any wind out of the north (which is the most common wind in September) don't look for huge weights.

Seems silly to me the tournament in the spring was out of marinette, when the majority of guys/gals are fishing south, and then the fall tournament is in the south when the majority of guys/gals are fishing the north.

This makes for some huge runs on big water. Just doesn't seem practical taking all things in consideriation. Just my opinion

Good luck to everyone who fishes it, and be safe if your making the big runs.

hey shep ,, i can see you pulling up on your favorite honey hole ,,, first pass you have one board dragging strait behind the boat about 60 yards as you net a 8.9 lb fish,,, about 8;30 am you have an 8 and a 9 in the boat and you decide to hang out over the deep edge drop down to 20 to 30 ft and a 40 deep strait off the back bends over and gives you that big 11 followed by a 10 on the inside board,,, now what do you have at 9;30 in the morning? looks like 39 lbs to me,,, its been done... just about 3 weeks or so late in the season..on the bay if you ask me but with a little luck ive seen it happen ,,, just need it to get hot!!!!!! outside all week..

Ah, carp never get off. Just like sheepies and kitty's! Another stupid anon poster who doesn't know squat!

I'm not saying 39 can't happen. I'm saying I would like to see it. I think 30#+ is a good bet. Somebody always figures out a great bag. I'm looking to solidify my place in the standings to make the Championship. Will I make the long run up north? Depends on what I find this next week, and the weather. I'm not going to pound my boat the day I leave for Moline.

Either way, if I had 39 at 9:30 in the morning, I'd be getting an early start to Moline. I'd let wolf walleye get all the play time on stage!

Wow, Shep! You have quite the fan fare, gotta love arm chair fishermen eh?

4 fish for 30+#'s will be challengeing, the BIG weights just haven't come in this year. 7# averages have been "big" weights this year. And you got the usual calling for the 9+# avg. I haven't seen consistent 8# avg baskets in about 3-4 years.

Fish seem to be moving into a fall transition on the bay, the fish are on the move. The good news is, the big fish are going to continue eating til ice up. A 6+# avg will go along ways, but will still be a tough basket to come up with.

Good Luck to all the WF'ers that are competeing in the MWS.

Yep, I know I don't usually do this, but I will run over to back up Shep. Remember, some of us been fishing the bay longer than the last 2 or 4 years. We know whats coming. I will stick with my prediction and feel pretty good about it.

Thanks, Denny. Glad you didn't say you'd back up to run over me! You want to fish this weekend?

Jayman, I got fans all over. I had a guy come all the way from New Mexico to fish with me two weeks ago! We did squat in the tourney, but prefishing was good.

I think tha Jim bought stock in Exon when he wrote out the schedule because if you want any chance in this one it's going to require 30 to 40 gal. of gas and all for a snowballs chance to win.

The bite is tough right now on the lower bay, at least for me, but there are enough big fish, around that burning less than 10 gallons of gas and bringing in 30 lbs is more than possible. I was out last night and didn't do much, a couple of 5 lbers. I got to the landing and there were a couple of younger guys there shooting pictures of there catch, and lets just say by the size of there boat I do not think they were out to far unless they drove down from door county to take the pictures and release the fish. Oh yeah they had 3 fish all around 28-29''s. It made me think even less of myself after seeing there catch.

Good Luck this weekend!!!

It should be nice weather for the weekend. My partner caught a 11.5 lber yesterday, he was salmon fishing when he caught it though 75 ft of water.

4 fish of that quality in a 1/2 day on the water are pretty tough to come by. Sure, it can happen, but it probably won't. Your fishing time is just too short when your making 1.5 to 2 hour runs one way.

oh we have the boys stired up a bit now... i wish this was a two day event,,, its always nice to see all the boys that fished the south running north the second day and the majority of the boats that ran north the first day fishing the river and south the second..... grass is greener on the otherside theory ,,,, 20 lbs 39lbs im still calling it at 34.9 but anyone who is predicting the weight a week or so out is grasping for straws... too weather related ,, a lot of water to cover... here today gon tomorrow kind of water... need a good program and a bit of luck to find those big girls... i shouldnt say here today gone tommorrow i should say here at 7 am gone at 8 am ,,, back agian at 1;30 gone at 1;45 , if you can handle big fish on at the same time... you got a shot...
