Member Posts: 102 | Hi. I ordered an X-190 about a month ago with the E-Tec 200 and had a few questions for you while I'm waiting for mine to arrive. What were the RPM's you were running with the Raker II 22 pitch? How high is the motor mounted on the transom? And do you have a kicker on the transom while you are running these props? My friend that runs a Champion with an older Evinrude 200XP is running a Renegade 24 pitch that was modified to 23.5" and I had thought that the 4 blade prop might be a better choice based on what I had seen and experienced from that rig. Thanks for any info you care to share!

Member Posts: 102 | The 200 is the little one, couldn't see hanging an extra 100# on the back just to burn more gas. Ticked me off I couldn't get it in blue to match the boat top. It will have a 9.9Pro Kicker on the back so I hope ebony and ivory get along together.

Wow, that X190 does look awesome, you said earlier you could take a picture and post it? If it isn't too much trouble, could you take a picture of the back casting deck with all of the lids closed? Maybe from between the consoles looking back? Also, can you give me an approximate cost of this boat rigged up just like you have it? If you don't want to post it I understand. thanks

Member Posts: 1382 | Well Phish Phinder, we got tired of waiting for you to the prove that the 190 is a fish-catcher so Dale and I took matters into our own hands. Also, be sure to ask Dale about our high tech fish locator. Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()

Member Posts: 43 Location: Arcadia, WI | ABG, I just got through the break-in of 2x oil today.. Etec needed 2 hrs of over 4000 rpm to meet this.. I was also having some cavitation problems at full trim along with some strong left tilting on take off. The motor was located fairly high, the 2nd hole from the bottom, and now has been lowered to the top hole. This has resolved the tilt and still has a nice hole shot.. With the Raker - I'm getting plenty of lift yet, but still not turning RPMs (5400 max - I should push 5900). I had hopes to run several more props, but my Flo-Torq hub kit didn't have a bushing I needed (I have this ordered). All the Renegades I seen were odd numbers, and they are also a small dia hub so 23-24 is not surprising.. Now that I have the boat running flat I mounted my T-8 today so next outing I will re-run the Raker then swap to the Tempest and maybe an old Preditor 4 blade I have laying around.. I don't doubt a 4 blade will be the nicest over all, since other boats I ran seem to run well also. Zac/Dale, that really looks like a spot you poached from Jay and I (from Friday) - shame on you two..

Member Posts: 102 | Thanks for the info! I was at my friends place up north this weekend and you are correct! The Renegade he has was originally a 25 pitch that a prop shop modified to the 23-24 in range when they did a repair for him. Something about a prop and a rock and a fast boat that just don't mix well. He was running in the 72mph+ range with that prop/jack plate with the XP but his boat is only 80" wide in the back and probably designed more for pure top end. Speed is nice but a good fishing platform comes first! I have a 20 pitch Raker on the shelf at home and now with your input, I think I'll keep that one around when I get rid of my old boat. It might come in handy. Thanks again for your help! I'd be glad to share my results when the boat gets here.

Member Posts: 43 Location: Arcadia, WI | Out again tonight, but fell short of the goal.. Picked up the Flo Torq hub kit and found out my 200 has a new for '08 M2 gear case that appears to have the slightest change and is not compatiable with the standard Quick Silver insert so I didn't get to run the Tempest again - back to the drawing board.. Hung the T-8 kicker and had about 25 gals of gas for tonight and still ran 5400-5500 rpm right around 60mph. Also ran my old Preditor 4 blade 26 (small hub) for something to do - got it on plane, but had a lot of exhust blow by as the weed ring didn't fit well. Zach - thanks for stopping down - Dale's checking on the hub adapter kit. Rick

If it isn't too much trouble, could you post a picture for me? I would like to see a picture of the back deck, with the lids closed, maybe from between the consoles back. I am really liking this boat, and it looks in one of the pictures that it may have a good sized rear deck, but there aren't many photos of this boat out there yet. Thank You

Member Posts: 43 Location: Arcadia, WI | jgd, I will try to get this picture for you (I thought I had one - can't find it).. I took the deck out last week to get ready for trolling, but will drop it back in for you.. The rear deck extention is 18" wide + the livewell lid - so its very comfortable offering tons of additional storage. The rear pedistal/bike seat or full seat is also nice. I'll try to post another pic of a rear deck in the 1890 also. Please contact Dale @ Holmen Marine (608 526 3345) for all your pricing inquiry. Rick Attachments ---------------- ![]()

One more question, is there a passenger side rod ramp or anything on the X190?

Member Posts: 43 Location: Arcadia, WI | No rod ramp, but the pedastol & roomy console offers lots of room. My friend had 6 rods w/ the other day with room for more (even more room w/o the extention).

When I fish I carry at least 3 large lakewood muskie boxes, plus my partners stuff, typically Tuffys dont have much floor space, I looked at an 1890 and was less than impressed with the layout. I dont care how it looks or how fast it goes i need it to perform how I want it to. How does the 190 stack up as far as storage. Currently running a 619, looking for something else. MAYBE.

Member Posts: 1040 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Guest, honestly, this is a Tuffy board. It's like asking guys about a Tuffy on a Ranger board. Most guys that reply on here own Tuffy's and really like them. I'd really suggest taking a look at one in person. I personally think the layout in a 1890 is better than a 619 but that's me. Everyones opinion is different, the best thing to do is actually check out an X-190 in person and make your own opinion about the boat. I think you'll be surprised on how this boat compares to a 618. Not sure where your located, but I go to school in central Wisconsin and live in northern Wisconsin, if your interested, I'd be glad to show you my X-190. Just let me know. But I think with all the pics on this board, you can probably get a feel for what it looks like. But let me know if your interested in seeing one. Edited by Merckid 4/20/2008 7:18 PM

Member Posts: 1991 | Guest, Go take a look at one, the added a couple more inches to the rear floor space on the 08 1890 by shortening the splashwell. I am just a average joe six pack and I really like my 1890 an the fishability

Wasnt at all trying to start a tuffy vs ranger thing. We really dont want to go there. Mercid, honestly, I should know better than to get on a tuffy site and ask a question about a tuffy. so stupid sometimes. sorry

Member Posts: 1382 | Three lakewood boxes are a tall order for any boat, esp a musky boat where many of the buyers require the ability to fish two guys on the front deck comfortably and a center rod locker that will fit an 8.5 footer. That eats floor space in a 19 foot boat. The side storage in the rear of the ranger takes up alot of the floor space, the 190 is open the full width of the boat, the ranger has a shorter front deck, the 190's is larger which shortens up the main floor space, those are the major difference in the layout (summary the tuffy has much wider floor space but it's not as deep). Alot of the people that get in my 190 comment on the ability to flip the passenger seat around 180 degrees when trolling, something the can't do in the 619-621 due to the rear storage being directly behind the seat. It's also alot easier to set a trolling rod (esp in rough water, or if you have back issues like I do) when you don't have to reach over a side storage compartment. To some people these things are valuable, to others they'd rather have the enclosed storage, it boils down to what your needs are. In alot of cases, if you run a rear storage deck the lakewood boxes will fit insides, it was made to take these boxes. Best way is to locate one at a dealer and drag the boxes along to check out if it will work for your particular needs. Any other questions feel free to ask there are plenty of people here running the boats that should have the answers you're looking for.

Member Posts: 1040 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Guest, I didn't mean it in a bad way. I'm just saying every person is different when it comes to boats, a truck brand they drive or the type of fishing reels one uses. All I'm saying is, go and take a look at a Tuffy yourself and you decide if you like it. Asking guys on a Tuffy board about how it stacks against a 619 isn't a fair question. For one thing, a 619 is comparable to a 1890, not a X-190. An X-190 is comparable to a 618. If your going to compare boats, compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk here, all I'm saying is, majority of guys if not all the guys here will say how much they love their Tuffy, me included. I personally love the layout in a Tuffy versus a Ranger. I've got more storage than I know what to do with and if you add the back deck extension you can add even more storage. I can put up to a 8'6 rod in my center rod locker, that's pretty good for a 19 foot boat. I honestly don't have one bad qualm about the two Tuffy's my dad and I have owned. I will be running the X-190 this summer and I think it's going to be awesome. Now you mentioned about carrying three Lakewood tackle boxes and your partners equipment. Here is my take on it. If you do not have the back deck extension, carrying three Lakewoods and your partners equipment shouldn't be a problem. Now, if you were to go with a back deck extension, here is what I would suggest. I don't have a Lakewood, I put all my muskie lures in plano boxes. I then pack the boat with the gear I think I might use that day. I use so much of the same stuff for the lakes I fish and barely ever have to switch stuff out. But in my opinion, I think there is more than enough room for gear. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions I'd be happy to help if I can. Edited by Merckid 4/20/2008 9:15 PM

finding room for the big tackleboxes is an endless challenge! on my 1890 last year i put boxes (one lakewood, one dunwright) on the front deck in front of either console. they stayed put even in moderately rough water. plus the deck's long enough that they were never in the way, even with two people fishing up front. the X-190 has even more front deck space since the boat's longer by 5 or 6 inches, so i plan to do the same thing again this year. i added the rear deck insert to my X-190, meaning less floor cockpit space, but more under-deck storage...i'll be sticking my trolling gear in there. oh yeah, almost forgot...my new X-190 is here too! ![]() Edited by lambeau 4/20/2008 9:42 PM Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Looks really nice thanks for posting the pics. I do put all of my hard baits in plano boxes, the lakewwods i carry are for my endless supply of large plastics that i will not leave home. Just like walleye fishing i carry six of everything and that will never change. Maybe i need to go back to a big tiller. hmmmmmmmm.
