Jeez, I miss the early spring, east side, #4 split shot and 60 feet back harness program on bago.

Mark, you have not missed anything. The worst spring bite I have ever seen. Bago had by far the best bite going and that was not very good compared to normal. The weather is BRUTAL as we have not had a break from the wind. Upper lakes and river are chocolate milk. Just a few days of stable weather would be great but it ain't happening for a while.

Ralph,

Stop at my dock and say high... I noticed a lot of boats catching small fish in the morning, later evenings are getting better off the dock right now.

My son and I spent 5 hrs jigging crawlers and leeches. We hit Mansur Reef, Haystack Reef, the reefs around Garlic Island, and near South Asylum Bay: not a single hit. On the way home we stopped at a local lake to catch a few crappies just to make sure we knew how to catch something!!! I did not see a single fish caught all day.......VERY SLOW!!

slow indeed. Nothing trolling the North Shore from the golf course to Waverly. Managed to pull a lone 18"er off a reef on my way in. Water is still crystal clear and 55 degrees yesterday morning.

Isn't this the craziest season? It seems like tht fish made there spawning run and got sucked into a black hole. I know the weather and all the cold fronts are not helping, but come on!
Take care,

Broke the drought -- wouldn't have won any tournaments but I got the monkey off my back. 4 eater eyes on a midday, bluebird skies bite. Couple of smaller ones too plus a million sheep and a few whities to boot.

Out again all morning. The bite is definitely picking up. Cranks in the mud, harnesses in the sand. Water still crystal clear but some green starting to form; temp at 72. Bugs are freakin' nasty.

As much as I hate to admit it the mud has one of the best bites going right now and no it is not Rattle Tots at 3.3mph Just what we needed is another mud bowl. Depressing but at least the fish are biting!

What's up Rich trying to keep the MWC fisherman out of your cane on Butte, we all know it's only a matter of time before that really starts to go.

You got me (although I did not know I owned any cane on Butte)!

Guest, truthfully I have not caught one legal in the canes yet this year but they are over due. Not sure why they are not going yet but then again nothing other then the mud is really going right now

I agree....the cane is overdue if it hasn't gone yet. What are the water levels and water clarity like in the upper lakes?

Clarity is not too bad but clearing up. The canes are green and water level is very good right now maybe even a touch higher then normal. Blows my mind, weird year for sure.

If anyone is looking for white bass, the mud is the place to go. I caught 33 fish this morning pulling cranks in the mud and 29 of them were white bass, 1 sheepshead and 3 short walleye.

Not a report. Took the kids skiing yesterday and lost a ski south of Roe's Point. It may have washed up on the shore near there or may have gone a long ways north. It is an adult size with a purple swirl pattern. It is an old ski, but now we only have one. Reward. 379-1871. Thanks Joe

Took my son and his friend to Winnebago Saturday morning. We trolled for just short of 6 hrs. We managed to catch at least 25 sheeps, 1 17" walleye and 2 12" walleye. We tried harnesses and cranks........still looking for answers.

Got a late start, started fishing at 10am on Monday. Started in mud out from Oshkosh, marked fish the whole time, nothing. Moved to red can by long point, didn't mark much fish, but got 1 walleye. Went to shore, tried trolling some reef, nothing. Went back to Oshkosh and got 4 walleyes, both were doubles, were caught in 1 small area. Why, I don't know. Caught 4 on #5 chrome and blue flickershad 40 ft back and 1 on #7 65 ft back. Last 4 caught as I sped the boat up.

Fished on Saturday, 5-29 from 6am til noon. In short, not a walleye. 15-20 Great Whites and as many sheep. Started on the East shore, pretty dead & very clear water. Moved towards Oshkosh and started in 14' and caught most of the whiteys and sheeps there, but no eyes, so moved a little north and out in the mud, decent marks on the graph, but still no eyes, ended up in the mud off of Long Point and caught fewer and fewer fish as the day wore on. Called "uncle" and went to get some chicken and a few ice cold adult beverages. We stuck to cranks, no meat. It was one of those days where you had to tell yourself "it still beats work". I had 9 other buddies in 4 other boats out there. Collectively, we caught one 18" sauger and two 10" eyes. After years and years of easy going, this is brutal and very humbling. At least it is not just me, almost everyone seems to be struggling. I did drive past the dam at Neenah, there is virtually no water/current on the downstream side and I would guess it is about 2' lower than it was 7-10 days ago. Better days ahead I guess.

It's Johnnie Candle's fault! Every time he come here from North Dakota for a tournament the fishing is at an all time low.
Don't believe me, check the records. Our worst spawning year was when the PWT was here in April. YUP, Johnnie Candle.

Don't fret. He leaves on Sunday and I'll predict that Monday we will see the typical 20 walleye days again.

Love Ya' Johnnie !!
