Member Posts: 591 Location: in the boat off the east shore somewhere | pull up the tournament culling impact thread and get updated !!!! its funny how in a day and age when you turn on the news and see a guy held up in his house , surrounded by the local swat team you have to wonder what set the guy off instead of the fact that he is a nut case..... pull it up and go to the second page and look at TYEEs post. for an update on how this will affect your plans for 2008 ,,,, better look at it before you decide what you will be fishing in 08

Member Posts: 591 Location: in the boat off the east shore somewhere | if someone knows how to pull the post from tyee for october 1st listing what changes we are looking at for tournaments and get that over onto this thread as it doesnt have anything to do with culling impact and reasearch and now more to do with new regulation of tournaments ,,, sounds like some things are cut and dried for example there will be a required stamp to purchase for next years tournament season for all participants.. and fees and possible 3 fish bag limmits and more. maybe there isnt the interest .. i dont know. maybe its me , maybe im just a bit worked up.. will someone calm me down please ,,,

Member Posts: 1656 | Brad, I think the reason Tyee brought it up, is this is a continueing issue. I think the post is in the right spot to maintain continuity. As for the content, I wouldn't call it a done deal, but something that will go before the board and will most likely be on the spring advisory vote (public input). I find it disappointing that the initial public opinion (mainly sportspersons) that attend the hearings last fall had pretty well shot it done, yet here it shows up again and the largest point described with detail is the fees. Even the fees part is vague, but everything else is even more vague in description. My opinion, this is nothing more than political interest in getting more money out of us fisherpeople. And if you don't believe this, let me ask you this, how many public awareness commercials regarding VHS did you hear at other water users such as Jet skiers, water skiers and such? How many did you hear that were aimed at fisherpeople?

Member Posts: 591 Location: in the boat off the east shore somewhere | agian you are sharp as ever Jayman , just erks me to no end.... yes you would think we are the only ones on the water. the thing is all of the anti tourny sentement and bickering back and forth has opened the door... there will be no stop to tournaments just as there is no stop to smoking just more taxes.. more fees collected and taken out of the conservation fund and used in the general state fund , taken and spent by our governor and state elected oficials... just like the news the other night that our roads fund is tapped out and we will have taxes raised to pay for roads ... yet in the same year the gov. takes money raised from taxes designated hwy dep and spend it on other pet projects... im tired of this ... taxation and never ending search for new revinue sourses by national state and local governments.... crabby yes i am..sorry about that... now this just fuels the fire.... reading that post , and yes its not set in stone , but it is clear that they have already decided to go forward with some key changes , and the things that are up in the air just in adition to what has been already decided on... looks like a trial baloon to me.... floating one out there ,,,, guess they will catch us sleeping agian ,,, everyone is in a tree stand by now anyway.... trying to figure out what zone they are in and if they have to earn a buck or does the doe with the bow count , and so on... oh wait youth hunt this weekend... can i sit with my son? can i bring the bow? can is sit 100 yards away from my son with the bow? where the heck is the rules encyclopia agian... oh ya in my truck , brb.

Member Posts: 591 Location: in the boat off the east shore somewhere | pulled from the tournament impact study thread please go read it... second page of that thread posted by tyee oct 1st, catch hold and release ban, instead there would be a 3 walleye BAG limmit , (daily BAG) of 3 , from the middle of JUNE till the first week of september. our current bag limmit is ten fish with two anglers in the boat... and most tornaments let you weigh 5 fish... Now there talking a 3 fishBAG limmit? with no culling allowed in the state? nice. there is more on this post if you havent read it please do .... i dont care if you only do a small bar tournament or a fundraisor or the pwt this affect you...
