Member Posts: 198 Location: Gladstone, Michigan 49837 | "October 5th, updated report on the Bay's....." morning air temps. at 60' this morning and a daytime temp. of 75' made for a great October day of fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Water temps. running at around 60' to 62' depending on either the north end of Bay or south of Gladstone today. Clients Steve and Cathy Chapman from Ohio were first timers to the U.P. and coming back again. Walleye's were the target today and between casting jigs, crankbaits and working live-bait rigs seemed other species were interested with Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike and Perch. Can't forget a hungry Sucker hitting on a jig/crawler combination. Colors most productive; orange and pinks, natural shad crankbaits using both Shad-Raps and X-Raps. Live-bait rigs running leads about 24 inches with both crawlers and minnows........ We worked many of the weedbed, rock flats of the north end of the Bay casting cranksbaits and tossing jigs tipping with both Redtail Chubs and crawler pieces. Also spending much of the afternoon along deep breaks marking and seeing good numbers of fish and baitfish and again taking some pike and bass. As the time of this report this evening a thunderstorm is rolling through with some nice rains dropping right, 6:03 PM What a nice day on the waters, enjoying the company onboard, catching some fish and all in all a great day as Steve said, it's FISHING! COMING BACK NEXT WEEK TO SPEND SEVERAL DAYS ON THE WATERS AGAIN.
