| What a difference a week can make. You'd never know a week ago, shacks were flying across the bay and there was a couple feet of water on top of the ice! Things firmed up pretty quick, and with the new snow, it's much easier getting around on the ice.
Reports were generally quite good over the weekend. With walleyes, there were a lot of good eaters taken, and the number of big fish seemed to greatly improve. That may have had more to do with the total number of fisherman on the water than an improvement on the bite. Sounds like fishing was a little slow for most guys Saturday morning, but picked up for the evening. Sunday morning reports were good as well. One of our customers brought in a 33 inch fish that went 12 pounds he caught on a Buckshot spoon. Didn't say what color, but his buddies were grabbing up the glow firetiger ones.
Perch fishing has been a little down for numbers, but a lot of guys are commenting on the nice size of the fish. Many in the 11 to 14 inch range, but maybe only 4 to 10 fish a trip.
Released my first decent sized walleye of the winter, tonight. A nice 27 incher. Marked a good number of fish, but all seemed to be in a neutal mood at best. This fish came in at 5:30 and I knew whithin a few seconds of her showing up on the graph that she was going to bite - very aggresive, fast movement. Had to tease her a little, but she finally sealed the deal on my #7 glow Jigging Rap. After a great fight and a couple pics, she was sent back down the hole.
See ya on the ice.
