| Does anyone ever troll for walleyes with flatfish or J plugs??? Thanks for any replies. |

| I have used a flat fish occasionally on 'Bago and they do catch fish. Thing is I haven't used one of those in probably over 10 years. |

Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | I cannot think of a specie of fish I have not caught on a flatfish at some time or place. But I think one of the very first crankbaits I ever used with success for walleyes back in the late 60's was a Tadpolly, a lure with much the same dynamic look and action as a flatfish. More recently, (mid 80's) that Red Horse color (red/black dots) tadpolly ruled when trolled and for the first two years people discovered that there were walleyes back in the Tittabawassee River. Then the Storm Lures Hot-N-Tots and all their related brothers hit the scene around that same time, including many of Rapala's newer and older cranks, and started kicking both river and Saginaw Bay walleye butt. So all the flatfish and tadpollys slowly worked their way out of my tackle boxes. Don't believe I ever caught anything other then salmon/lake trout on a J-plug. Might be a good idea to go old school again, who knows.

| I was just digging around in the old spoons and cranks from the charter days and found some small 2 1/2" and 3" J-plugs. Just finished painting them up and will give them a shot the first week in April. I even painted up a jointed j-plug I dont have a clue if they will work or not but the winter boredon has set in. |

| They still work!! Know of some friends that finished second in a MWC tournament a few years back on Bay De Noc trolling flatfish/crawler combo in the river.
Most fish havent seen them in a while so sometimes a different presentation gets em. |
