Member Posts: 102 | Just thought of this as I looked at my new boat sitting at the dealer's place. With the Esox rear deck in place setup, where does the third person sit? I wouldn't let anyone sit on that back seat at 30mph let alone 50 or more. Thought about having a very small aluminum post to bring the rear seat hight down to the deck, but even that is a little high. Any ideas?

if you want to keep the rear deck in place, just have them sit on a cushion on the edge of the deck and keep the speed down to something reasonable. or, as you say, drop the seat flush with deck. keep in mind that you can always remove the rear deck on those occasions when you're going to have a full boat, it only takes about 5 minutes and just involves unscrewing the 4 bolts (2 per side) that hold it in place. with the deck up, you can put the seat in the other cockpit seat base.

Member Posts: 1382 | Also, have your dealer (or you could do it) install a grab handle or 2 somewhere on the front face of the deck for those occasions where someone may need to sit there.

Member Posts: 102 | I kind of wanted to keep that rear deck in with three guys just to give the back guy a nicer platform to fish from. It is going to be different having enough room to fish two up front with comfort compared to my last boat that was just the opposite, with a big back floor area and a shorter front deck. Is there a very short post available for flush seating or is the first customization project on the drawing board?

Member Posts: 1382 | The design of the posts Tuffy uses allows a post to be cut to any length, you could make one that exactly fits a seat flush to the deck. Your dealer can get one for you, and may already have one on hand.

Member Posts: 102 | Good idea about the grab handles. You never know when there might be four in the boat. Probably not with the rear deck in, but I guess until I get it wet a few times it will be just conjecture on how many it could fish chasing bass or something where you are casting non-lethal lures instead of big Reef Hawgs and Grandmas.

Why couldn't the third guy just sit between the consoles facing to the rear?

I actually think this would be one of the most comfortable spots to sit if I were the third person in the boat when it's cold out. During spring or fall, I'd much rather sit there with my back to the wind versus on the back deck where it'll pound into my face. But the ride will be better towards the back of the boat though.
