with only 6 days until the Opening Day of the 2008 Walleye Season on the Bays of both Little and Big Bay de Noc everyone will be getting ready.
Daytime temps. been running in the 50's and will continue throughout the upcoming week with low temps. in the 30 and 40's.

In the past week taking a few evening drives along with some conversations with people and we have still seen some Walleye in the Rapid/Whitefish Rivers along even with the Ford/Cedar River. Also in walking along the Rapid River seeing suckers appearing as well. Time for some pickled fish recipes to be pulled from the files. Pretty cool watching those "diamonds" in the water while they do their spawning!
With the colder, later spring we've experienced it's for sure to finding some good fishing to be found off the river mouths and flats area of the Bays both Little and Big Bay.

Launch sites too are now all in and complete for the opener. Right now they are working on the Garden Bay launch and that should be complete for the season as well.

Tackle tips and ideas for the Opening Day and just basic fishing patterns will apply; jigging, floating jig-heads along with some variations in crawler harnesses along with bottom-bouncers and split shot.
Tipping jigs with maribou tails, crawler pieces, minnows and variations of the NEW "Gulp Alive" products should be a good start of ideas to the angler.

Locational areas and concentrating on those river mouths, flats and newly grown weedbeds should also get results.
On Big Bay concentrating on the newly growing weeds off the Ogantz Bay and around the corner heading in off Tylene's Restaurant as well the Island areas.

Again wishing all of you the best of Opening Days, be safe and showing courtesy to other anglers on the water.
from all of us at Little Bay de Noc Charters,
Marty
