Just returned from a week in northwest Ontario. No leeches, minnows, or live bait of any kind can be taken into Canada, except crawlers. The crawlers must be packed in bedding (I use wet shredded newspaper) - no dirt allowed!!

Ice-out was 2 - 3 weeks late in the Perrault Falls area where I was, so surface temps ranged from 47 to 54 degrees. Until Thursday, perch and walleyes where not to be found, although we did get the nicest lakers we've seen in more than 15 years. Weather ranged from snow showers to violent thunder/lightning/hail storms to sunny and mid-60's. Typical early season week in Ontario!

Good luck on your trip.
