Member Posts: 116 | 2006 225 Opti My lower unit failed yesterday while out on Bago. I'm looking for suggestions on where to take it for repair. It is under warranty so it needs to be a factory authorized repair shop. Thankfully I went fishing instead of bow hunting so that it didn't happen in April and cause the loss of prime fishing time! I have all winter to get it fixed. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Giman The selling dealer would be the best bet from now until the end of the year. Everybody is in the heat of winterizing boats and there schedule will be quite tight. You would have more pull getting it into a schedule with the guy you bought it from. In order for warranty to apply, the shop would need to disassemble and install from the main engine. This should be done before the snow flys as you do not want to tow around in the winter. What happened to the lower unit?

Member Posts: 116 | I bought the boat from a pro from another state so I will have to find someone around here. No idea what happened. I was at WOT in 19' of water when there was a slight hesitation. My thought was that the low oil alarm was kicking in and slowing me down but the hiccup only lasted an instant. Then a few seconds later it started to slow and ran rough and noisy. I shut it down, added oil because it was low and restarted. At this point it sounded perfect but when I put it in gear I had absolutely zero thrust.

Member Posts: 116 | A big thank you to Fort Fremont and Mercury! My motor has been repaired and it was a friendly painless experience at absolutely no cost to me. I'm now anxious for open water now even though I've only gone ice fishing once so far.
