Location: Stevens Point, WI | Day 3 of the final PWT qualifying event ever dawned with light winds and cloud cover. WalleyeFirst talked with second place pro Matthew Ernst who had an outstanding day yesterday with day two's heaviest basket of 22.67 to launch him in prime position of spoiling day 1 and 2 leader Nick Johnson.
Johnson made his way onto the water from a secondary landing this morning so WalleyeFirst was unable to speak with him, however, he did state on stage yesterday that he's had only four bites each day and has been lucky to boat all eight fish.
Day 1 leader and pro Bruce Mirabella said he should be to his spot early because he'll be one of the first boats out of the shoot. He feels his spot is reloading with new fish overnight and thought he could get it done today.
Heading into this final event, South Dakota veteran pro Dan Stier started with 253.08 AOY points. Stier has lost a bit of his lead to two-time angler of the year Mike Gofron. "If calculations are correct, Stier leads by nine points going into today," said PWT Coordinator Julie Meister.
Stay tuned for the web's only live weigh-in broadcast starting around 3:30pm this afternoon.
