Want to tie up some leaders for next season and wanted to know what options people use for hooks. I usually use #2 or #4 Gammy bait hooks.

Thanks

Craig,

I love the Owner hooks.  I get mine from Sportsmans in Depere.  You can buy a pro pack for aroung $7.00 on sale for either red or silver.  I've switched every harness I make for bago or the bay to Owner hooks.

Owners are wicked sharp! But for years, I only used the Gamigatzu #2 Walleye hooks. Something about the Owners don't seem right. More lost fish, I think. But I can't confirm for sure.

Last year, on the advice of a co-angler, I started experimenting with circle hooks on my harnesses. I don't know the hook number right now, but I do know that I never lost a fish. Probably like 25 for 25, from 3 to 11 pounds. I'll run more circle hooks spinner rigs next year.

I've used Diachi #2's in the past. I switched and used gammys and cabelas. Ended up going back to Diachi. The don't rust AND I can sharpen them to a very sticky point. I used to waste my money on the blood hooks. After 6 years of tourney fishing I personally found they don't make a difference.

Happy tying!

ps, I better start as well. I usually go through 100 harness rigs or more a year.

I'll stick to Owners as well. They go thru skin quite well too, as I found out on the bay last year.
