Subject: Elkhart/ Bristol - St. Joe Walleye

Where are some decent spots to fish? I have never fished for walleyes, period. Thinking of trying around Island Park and the Elkhart River. Anything around Nibbyville? I live in the subdivision North of the access site.
Planning to use Gulp minnows or real minnows on a drop shot set-up. Is it really necessary to use jig heads or can I use a single hook?

Any help will be very useful. Thank you in advance. Mike
