| Flowages, Rivers, and Lakes – Oh My! Agree?, Dissagree?, Add?, Subtract Comments?
If your lake is in fact a flowage fish it as a flowage - not a lake. Flowages proper are generally shallower than lakes and have river and lake characteristics combined. Some reservoirs or parts therein act like flowages at times of recent high rain fall or when pulling water. Some rivers and flowages act like lakes at times and places of low water flow, and backwater situations. The clearer the water, and the brighter the day, the deeper, more shaded your search. Find “deeper” channels near mid lake wood/rock wing dams (lay downs, stick ups, etc.) - even the heads and tails of visible or underwater islands in the middle of moving water (this does not necessarily mean "fast" water). Fish channels and associated "S" turns and steeper bluff type walls. Then, fish the slack water edge of where that channel comes closest to wing dams of any sort combined with wider near by expanses of shallow shore features. Then move further into the slack or shallow water. Near, or in overhanging or underwater shade (if any) is also a higher percentage bet. Light line, smaller baits/jigs/long casts beyond target, retrieved into face of current and long line precision trolling is the ticket.
