Subject: Older tuffy tiller boat

I have a 1988 18' MWC in short its a 18 foot tiller model. I have the boat repowered with a 1999 75 hp Merc. The boat runs great tons of power hole shot is great. Little bit of torque in the tiller but trim normaly takes that away.

So here is my question I just traded for a 1998 115hp motor with the tiller kit installed on it. Does anyone see any major draw backs to running this motor on a 18 foot tuffy?

I don't see the need for speed. but I do like the idea of being able to out run weather if you have to.

Just looking for opinions

Location: Rhinelander
It'll take the HP easilly, but is illegal as a tiller motor. The boat would be way over USCG ratings for a tiller.

I am afraid of that. right now with the 75hp I can run loaded in the upper 30 range most times around 37 38 mph. I was not sure what the torque would be like with a 115hp motor on there. I think the Hull is rated for a 150hp but as a remote steering set up.

I am just going to have to find a hual that I can put the motor on.

thanks
