OK I am really wondering which is the lessor of two evils.
87 octane with ethanol or 91 octane with no ethanol.
Mercury recommends 87 octane with out any ethanol. I can not find that any more! So my question is would running the 91 octane be a better option than using the 87 ethanol and a bunch of stablizers to prevent fuel seperation?

Fleet Farm has regular unleaded without ethanol. I get mine for the boat there all the time.

If you look around you can still find 91 octane 100% gasoline. I buy it at the BP in Neenah and the indepenent station at the corner of Onieda and Midway in Appleton. Also, I think the BP in Fremont had it last year. I run it in my boats, snowmobiles and motorcycles without any additives.

What kind of Merc do you have that recommends no ethanol?
I have a 2006 115 Opti and my owners manual says to run 87 octane and it can contain up to 10 percent ethanol. It also says this in the manual for my 8hp 4 stroke. I had a 1984 Evinrude 35hp years ago. It also said you could use regular gas with up to 10% ethanol.
