Hey guys, anyone have experience with a 1988 Walleye Rampage? I am looking at picking one up for a little fishing boat. Just checking to see if there are any items to look out for on them, etc. The boat of interest has a Yamaha 30hp (1988 as well). Also, does anyone know what the specs are on it? Weight capacity/people capacity/hp? Thanks for the help!

Location: Rhinelander | Rated at 40HP tiller, is a 15' V and handles 3 people. Check the floor, side tanks and transom on a boat that old. If sound, it's a great hull and a great fishing boat. Shep had one, perhaps he'll add his thoughts.

New User Posts: 1 Location: Rochester, MN | Thanks for the reply. The floor is a little warped, but is solid was a rock when I stood/jumped on it. Hull has a few marks, but nothing major at all. I couldn't read the plate on the boat very good, but it looked like it said 4 persons/600 lbs. I fished a lot out of 16ft Lund WC's when I was younger and this Tuffy seems like it would make an even better fishing platform. P.S. the first post was me, thought I was logged in but wasn't.

Member Posts: 3899 | I had a 91 Walleye Rampage with a 25 Merc. I loved that boat. Even though I went from a 83 Lund Mr Pike with a 50 HP Merc, that Tuffy rode much better, na d fished way bigger than it's size. I had that boat for almost 10 years. Ran it on Green Bay and Bago, and never was scared. now, I dodn't go out on GB in 4 footers, but I did get out in some pretty rough stuff. Bago, too. I'd be out when other stood at the launch and watched the waves. The 25 puhed the boat to 27 GPS with me, and 24ish with another adult in it. I think that boat would be much faster with a 40 HP. No built in gas tank, and single battery box. Both under the rear splashwell. Mine was ordered with a bige pump, and the livewell was long, but a little shallow. Big walleyes did not fair well, but I could put 10 eaters in there, and they did fine. Rod storage was great, and a little storage area in the front bow would hold anchors bow light, first aid kit, and a little bit more. Things to look for are the strigers under the floor. They are wood, encased in glass, and if there is damage to the hull, or gelcoat damage into the glass, water can get to this wood, and rot and weaken the hull. Then the gelcoat will crack length wise. If the motor mounting holes were not sealed, same with the transom. There is a drain in the floor you can get through to poke around to check the integrity of the inside hull. Good news is nearly anything glass can be fixed/reparied/renewed. Look on MuskieFirst.com for some of the restorations that have been done. Some awesome rigs were brought back to life with some planning, and hard work. I had my Hull gelcoat fixed once by Tuffy. Looked great. I sold the boat in 02 for nearly what I paid for it new! I miss my Blue over Grey Tuffy. Sniff, sniff. Edited by Shep 3/12/2010 10:16 AM

Member Posts: 11 Location: Akron Ohio | This is the boat I currently have, 1988 Walleye Rampage, 1989 30 hp Johnson elec. start tiller. It's solid as a rock everywhere and I really like the boat. I can fish anywhere in Ohio in this boat but will probably be gettin rid of it soon. I'm currently looking at the write-up of a new 1700 with lots of goodies on it, and momma says I'm not allowed to have 2 boats.
