| I was swimming off my dock on Sunday and noticed that there were a couple of dozen spots within 30 yards of shore where the difference in the water temps felt like a 30 degree difference. I took the boat out around my dock and sure enough, some spots were 80 degrees and some were 60 degrees. It felt like the water was coming up from the bottom from springs. You could stand in the cold spots and within 10 seconds, you were freezing.
Any theories on this?, I had 10 of my relatives swimming in the water and they were all shocked at how much of a difference a few feet in the water meant.
As a side note, we started catching lots Perch off the dock in the last week which is highly unusual for this time of year.
Pretty weird stuff happening on Big Butte...

| That my explain the midsummer fishing in that area?
I had a cottage across the lake on Reighmoor a while ago and had an artesion well on the property. Perhaps this is the same deal.

Location: Manawa Wiscowsin | There are ground water springs near shore all along the NE part of Winnebago from Rockland Beach to High Cliff. They all seem to be close to shore. There are also some artesian springs in that area that flow even in dry weather but the ones I know about are further off shore. That cool water can really feel good when it's ninety degrees and humid.

| Fished off the dock tonight and caught 23 Perch (11 Keepers), 2 16-17 inch Walleyes, a dozen Catfish all small, 2 large suckers (one broke my $5.99 telescopic cane pole), a Black Bass and a handfull of Sheephead. Sure is fun while it lasts, Cold Water still surronding my dock in spots.
If this keeps up, I may never take my boat off the lift for the rest of the year!
