There are alot of great choices when it comes to blades and harnesses that are currently on the market, personally if I am on Winnebago or the Lower portion of Green Bay I use a bright colored blade in chartreuse, white, pink etc. on the upper bay I go to more of a gold, purple or red. I use alot of Big Eye Custom Lures due to the color selction and the quality of the line, swivel assembly. you can get them at Fleet Farm or on line at www.bigeyecustomlures.com Gool Luck

On Winnebago, I use Northland's holographic blades a lot -- the Purple Cisco has been by far my most productive but their Perch and Shad have their days as well. I also use Tommy Harris blades with some frequency, he has some nice purple/gold combos that put fish in the boat.

Theres alot of good products out there but I like to use Fish Bone Custom lures on the bay and erie. On the bay I like pinks, charts and purple and on erie fish bone sells this rig called slasher flasher that is killer on erie.

IMO, Fancy blades don't catch you more fish. Generic 5for 99cents blades often catch more fish then the fancys. Northland tackle blades perform with the best of them at the fraction of the cost.

IMO, blade shape, weight, size and cup design are way more imporant then a cheap purple blade vs a 2.00 purple blade.

Often with the custom painted blades you will notice that the actual blade was bought from a mass producer and the actual quality of the blade (not paint job) is what i would call a "big lots" standard. So are you actually getting a better blade when you spend 5$ on 3? that choice is up to you.

I use Mack's Lure Smile Blades a lot. As a matter of fact, I always have one out I call old faithful. If you like to go slow or fast these blades are a must in your arsenal. Yes, I am on their Pro Staff! However, If you ask any one who has looked in my rod locker, they always find Smile Blades on some of my rods. Feel free to email me with any questions. Use the link below to look at the blades.

FYI,

Tommy Harris has his own blades made from his own manufacture to his specs and are NOT from the same lot as others.

This is a good one. It was a winner at an flw league event on greenbay a few years back. Still a solid producer. Cabelas holographic

Long ago when I had more ambition my best blades and color were the #6 Indianas that I brush painted myself with solid Magenta Finger Nail Polish. This color blade combined with Blood red #8 glass facited beads caught me lots of walleyes for years on the Saginaw Bay. As our water column continually cleaned up via the Zebra Mussles and our forage base changed, it seems the best colors now change from year to year. I'm also a Tommy Harris fan because Tommy keeps enough different colors and ideas in his arsenals to keep me and the Saginaw Bay walleyes happy. Here's a few of Tommys recent ideas. He tells me Green Bay walleyes have taken a liking to his #7 willow leaf blades this year. This design blade is great and works better when trolling speeds need to be on the faster side. I'm going to add them to my own arsenal next summer and see what happens.
